“How would you prefer to see Northwest Arkansas developed?”

Sadly, we’re overrun with folks who want single family houses and to protect the natural beauty of the city. Can’t have both, folks.

What kind hotel makes the bed without a top sheet and uses an inside-out duvet cover as the mattress sheet?

The Westin St. Louis is a disappointing hotel that very clearly used to be a nice place to stay but is waaay past its prime.

Was watching MSNBC for a while this evening. They interviewed a Brown student sheltering in her dorm room. And she mentioned that she was a survivor of the Parkland shooting. So she was on her second school shooting. Which underscores the maddening fact that we’ve done nothing to make it stop.

These are very nice. I like the shape, the unique and repetitive facade, and the vibrant colors.

The world needs more thoughtful architecture like this.

Um, excuse me. It is the “Monaco Grand Prix” not the “Monaco Race” thankyouverymuch.

All Formula One races are referred to as a Grand Prix, or “Grands Prix” when discussing multiple events.

For example: Lando Norris won seven Grands Prix during his 2025 championship seasons.

This beautiful documentary by Ben Bertucci about the Naito family and their modest shop in Tokyo that restores some of the world's rarest vehicles was a fantastic way to escape the current state of affairs.

If you have 90 minutes, give this a watch - even if you don't like cars.

This is incredibly bleak.
Waymo privatized another public street:

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

this is why i think the power of point access blocks is even greater at scale...

not only do you house nearly same number of people - you do it in like 60% of the footprint

meaning construction costs go way down.
more privacy. more space for trees. more daylight. homes that cross ventilate.
here's version w/ (4) 6 story 'el'-shaped PABs

300 homes

half of them are 2-4 bedrooms (status quo development in seattle right now has that number at <6%)

max FAR: 2.8 (less than half what would normally see on a 6 story site)

lot coverage: 47%

look at how massive those courtyards are: 🌳🌳🌳🌳

you know how i keep saying single stair buildings are workhorse of walkable urbanism the world over?

here are 174 homes on a 2.2 acre block in seattle.

(16) 4-5 story single stair buildings.

what do you think FAR is?
what about lot coverage?
unit distribution?

Buy a cool house, I said. Why would anyone want to live in a cookie-cutter builder home, I asked.

Yesterday, the 45 year-old 4 foot by 7 foot single-pane skylight in our primary bath shattered into a million little pieces. Thankfully nobody was in there.

Oh, the joys of homeownership.

All this kvetching about among “leaders” trying to figure how to bring down prices is exhausting.

What if we just paid all people a living wage that kept up with inflation?

Seems simple to me. 🤷‍♂️
