The speed they move reacting to trends and delivering *quality* content is unmatched. I can imagine the pipeline is chaotic, but wow! do they know how to consistently deliver (and for a *wide* variety of audiences)

Despite a week where my car got broken into, the other car's battery died, the fridge ceased working, and I'm sure I stubbed my toe or somewhere in there... got some really good news today so riding on the good vibes.

Also, in hindsight... the amount of effort, passion, and hard work from so many people that it takes to not just make a video game, but also manufacture 15 pounds of plastic to go alongside it that retailers decide it worth a dozen or so boxes of their premium floor space for... it's so much.

Do I play a lot of Rock Band? No. I'm bad at it. But it's weird how much it's affected my life. I've made a lot of friends and had a lot of experiences because of it.

At the very least, maybe I should try and snag the last of the DLC I do not yet own before that too goes away.

Bittersweet to see it disappear once and for all from any mainstream way to purchase and play, even if it was expected to happen at some point (licensing, yay!). At least the colleagues, community, and friends from the journey are long lasting.

Rock Band as a franchise left a lasting and foundational impact on my life, and the time I spent working on this game and at Harmonix felt like giving that back to a community of people who love both music and rhythm games.

I don't think much in my professional career will ever top those years.

There are literally a DWINDLING number of game jobs in the US now. We should not be celebrating the loss of ANY studios at this point. Any of us could be begging for a job at an EA studio in the near future.

1. shut the fuck up
2. people have families to feed
3. games such as hades only exist because the studio cofounders met while they were at EA. studios that make games you don’t like are still enormous institutions of gamedev experience and knowledge
