My novella Emma's Story is a tale about a young woman facing a big decision she’s not quite ready to make.
There’s also a bear, sleigh rides in the snow, and hot whiskey by the fireplace.

If you're looking for wintry fairytale vibes and dark forests, this is for you.

Aye, it's not hard to see why. I did the same. ;)

Got tickets to see Nitzer Ebb in April.

I know one of the band members passed away recently, but I'm still hopeful it will be a good show. If nothing else, it'll be loud.

Toini also has issues with verbal communication. She thinks mainly in concepts and images, and it means she sometimes has a hard time putting her thoughts into words. She knows and understands the point she wants to make, but doesn't find the words for it.

Hello #PlotTober

When it comes to her cause, Toini is stubborn, confident, and devoted, which is why it's such a blow to her when her cause is taken from her.

In other situations, she's insecure, indecisive, and irrational.

Toini was once kind and loving, but she's no longer sure she still is.

#PlotTober Day 9: MC personality & behaviors

Answer the prompt on the card by quoting this post. Remember, answering a prompt is always optional. Even if you don't share it publicly, I hope the prompt encourages you to think about it privately.

9. What are some personality traits and behaviors, both positive and negative, that you think would suit your main character(s)? How do these traits affect your main character's goals and motivations?

Remember: Use the #PlotTober hashtag, engage with others, and have fun!

I suspect they're probably doing okay these days. They've been doing this for years now, and they take regular breaks, so I'm hopeful they manage their health responsibly. :)
nils.readindiefantasy.com
Yeah. I can't say I haven't wondered about that myself...

They're doing one chapter per week now, except just recently they ran a series of "short" interludes with a new chapter every 2-3 days, and those were still over 20k words each.

This is where someone should offer a scammer's digest, so you can get all scam mails at the same time once a week, with the best ones highlighted.

No?

Yeah, probably not...
nils.readindiefantasy.com
They do three prompts a week for the meetups, and they're often in the same vein as this.
I still haven't written anything for any of them, but they're fun ideas to bounce around.

Would anyone believe me if I blamed Tru?

No?

How about Tru's cat? Clearly, it's the cat's fault.

Here's my first review/recommendation for this season's edition of the SFINCS novella competition.

It's time for our first SFINCS review for the season.

Here are Nils' thoughts on Mistaken Captives by @rhiannonheld.bsky.social

A tale of werewolves, accidental meetings, and desperate attempts to escape.

The banner shows the cover of the book over a background of a misty forest. A picture of a wolf's eyes has been overlaid on the background to hint at the werewolfiness of the story.

I was not so convinced at the time. I deleted the app and left it at that. Now, I've mostly forgotten about it, but I should probably go back and clean up at some point.

I went looking for the original tweet, from before Twitter became X, but I can't find it, and perhaps that's just as well... ;)

My only viral post was a picture showing a stupid spelling error in one of my books - print version.

Not sure that's a good way to sell more books for me. :P

Good Morning!

Photo from the bridge over the canal near the office. The morning is clear, but the sky is pale. The sun is rising behind the camera, and a hint of a glow warms the trees in the distance.

The writing prompts provided by WUtI Amsterdam are something else.

Title: Delivery in 5 hours or it's free.
Prompt: the universe suddenly decided to lower the speed of light. Everything is now slower and heavier, and all of reality starts to drift apart. As a pizza chain store manager, you really don't need this on top of all your other problems.

Giving advice is much easier than taking it, or so I've found.

Sometimes, just showing up and keeping to the routine is enough.
nils.readindiefantasy.com
Yeah, and those are the ones that have been released as ebooks.

That corresponds to halfway through the seventh volume of the web serial, which is currently on its tenth volume. So there's about half again as many books written, but not yet published.

It's why I suggest starting with Gravesong. ;)

Autistic people are told what's 'normal' all the time. Even if what's being called 'normal' doesn't sound very 'normal' to us...

'Magic, Maps, and Mischief: A Cozy Neurodivergent Adventure' is out October 24th!

mybook.to/magicmapsand...
“There are no elves in the basement?”
Greton nodded. “No.”
“Why are you nodding, Greton?”
“I am agreeing with you.” The old man swallowed, but the large lump taking residence in his throat refused to shift. “I agreed that there are no elves in the basement behind me.”
“A person usually shakes their head when they say no, Greton. Not nods. That’s what normal people do, shake their heads.”
‘That’s what normal people do’. If the old Sparker had a gula for every time he’d heard that phrase, he’d be richer than all the bankers in Lira City combined.
Gritting his teeth, he let the barb slide for the good of Lura and her children. “Yes, of course. I shall try to remember that.”

Yes, I got tricked, and I might have fallen for it if I hadn't had to catch the bus to get to work and then talked it over with someone else.
Yes, I should have known better, but I didn't.

Yes, I did have my suspicions, but what if...?

The scam is that someone claims they've been hacked by someone claiming to be me, and wants to warn me so I don't get into trouble. They're also helpfully providing all the information I need to not get in trouble...

the screenshots to explain things.

I did add the person as a friend on Discord, but after talking about the situation with someone else, I realised this was indeed a scam, so I ended the conversation.

So...
The scam isn't that someone impersonated me to steal another person's account.
