My novella Emma's Story is a tale about a young woman facing a big decision she’s not quite ready to make.
There’s also a bear, sleigh rides in the snow, and hot whiskey by the fireplace.

If you're looking for wintry fairytale vibes and dark forests, this is for you.

Back when The Living Waters came out, I took a series of photos of water in the overlooked & polluted little wetlands near the Anacostia river in DC.

The theme is twofold:

What if water were alive?

What if nature not only persisted in the face of our brutality, but fought back & thrived?

We had a closer look at all the covers from this year's SPFBO and tried to pick our favourites. There are a lot of good ones.
SPFBO XI is starting soon, and as is tradition (at least we did it last year) we're hosting our own Unofficial Cover Contest! Come look at the pretty book covers from this year's SPFBO and see which books were our favourites:

Ahoy folks, it's SFINCS O'clock, and this is Nils with a new review.

These are my thoughts on Sunbathers, by @lindzmcleod.bsky.social

This is a bleak but worthwhile read, and while it hit me hard, I'm glad I read it.

If y’all liked the chibis, I opened a few slots to get your own 🥰 they’d obviously be more detailed and I’d make a background! Here’s an example using Eunice who belongs to @coveofmadness.bsky.social !!

It's snowed.
More than I've seen in all the few years I've been here.

There's a chance it might start again in a few hours.

Like a ton of other people, I also didn't get into SPFBO.

Am I disappointed? Not as much as I'd expected.
Will I get over it? Yes.

Will I still be cheering on my friends who got in? You bet! Now that I'm not in the running, you actually have a chance. :P

Best of luck everyone!

I submitted my book.
It's the first one, out of 12, that's eligible for entry, so it's the first time I'm going for it.

Obviously, I'll be disappointed if I don't make it past the lottery, but I'll get over it soon enough. ;)

Best of luck to everyone else hoping to take part.

Stay safe out there people.

Don't play with fireworks. It's hard to type if you've blown up all your fingers.

An excellent way to end the year - a brand new (and favorable) review for my little old book.
Not many people find out about it these days, but it's awesome when someone picks it up and enjoys it.

Thank you for your kind words @ormakal.bsky.social
