Not sure about the “missing” bit - UK institutions have financial issues, Netherlands have government cuts etc. I’d say we’re well aware that it’s a buyers market at the moment, but lots of places have no headroom to hire.

We have a bit on that in section 4.2, we look at spillovers to other supermarkets nearby and other crimes - there’s not a lot of evidence on spillovers. The other bit to keep in mind - shoplifting increases everywhere over the time period - just a lot less strongly at Tesco than elsewhere.

This started out as Wednesday's undergrad dissertation. Supervising undergrad dissertations has always been one of the aspects of the job I like the most, so it’s particularly nice to see outcomes such as this! Very fun project to do as well!

If the school FE captures things like peers, I would expect both to be “big”. My prior would be that the family FE is slightly bigger, but I’d be very surprised if the school FE wasn’t sizeable.
