Disabled people are part of the future.
We must and should imagine and dream of futures where disabled people don't just exist but are everywhere, as we should be.
This need to fix/cure all disability is a eugenicist dreaming, and we should want better for ourselves.
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

Of these, 46 were Trans+, a number higher than the Appleby report which said no surge took place following the Tavistock’s closure

ICE took a severely disabled mans caregiver away, and it killed him.

Wael Tarabishi was dependent on his father to be his arms, his legs and his lungs.

His dad went for his regular immigration check in and never came home.

He’s rotting in a camp, and Wael died.

The cruelty is the point:
ICE Took Wael Tarabishi's Full Time Caregiver Away... and it Killed Him
Wael Tarabishi was a 30 year old disabled man who's father Maher was his full time caregiver. ICE took Maher in October, leaving Wael without support. He died three months later.

I don't know how to function in a world that is so continuously cruel.

Where so many will celebrate this pointless, pointless harm. This will devastate a tiny minority. It will benefit no-one.

So many across our country will comply with this violence. So many others will stand silent.

I am one of the most published academics on the childhood social transition, with 5 peer reviewed articles that relate to the topic.

There is so much evidence of benefit of social transition.

There is no evidence of harm. Not one jot.

This will literally kill trans kids. No exaggeration.

I think this was very much me playing with the MIDI sounds of the harp after being inspired by demonstrations of this specific low-mid register in Danielle's harp writing guide, and then checking in with her on whether I'd added anything unidiomatic. It absolutely felt like the process of stimming

But ffs if you do this for only one hour a week, between 12 and 13 on a MONDAY… screw off with the performative activism
