A totalitarian movement must never achieve its goals, as that would eliminate the need for the movement itself. Even in victory, new enemies must be created in order to justify further cruelty and domination.
A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

Veronmaksajain keskusliiton mukaan verotus kevenee suurimmalla osalla palkansaajista ainakin aavistuksen. Esimerkiksi monien ammattiliittoihin kuuluvien verotus ei kuitenkaan kevene lainkaan.

Here, @lewisgoodall.com really describes the essence of how Labour (like other social democrats in Europe) contributes to the normalization of the far right and to shaping public opinion against immigration. Because they have given up on challenging far-right narratives...
"There have been no counter narratives from Labour. There have been no attempts to fact check some of this stuff."

Rylan's TV rant about migrant hotels was packed full of right-wing misinformation – and our government have done nothing to stop its spread
Rylan’s migrant rant: Why Labour’s failures led us here | The News Agents
TV host Rylan Clark is facing criticism for sharing misinformation about migrants, and echoing right-wing lies, on ITV’s This Morning. Does this prove how far this dangerous rhetoric has spread?

I think there's a core problem with the idea that anyone - **especially straight men** - feels entitled to "debate" the existence and rights of trans people.
so there’s gonna potentially be a pod save america “debate” on democrats future support for trans rights in the near future

i had to back out because of scheduling conflicts, and for some reason they didn’t want my help finding a replacement

on the other side of the “debate” is…

People need to understand just how openly genocidal the rhetoric on the far right is getting towards transgender people. They're openly talking about eradicating us and forcefully mass institutionalizing all trans people.

These are people with direct ties to the Trump administration.

Well-paid Democratic consultants urging what’s basically political suicide and complicity in light of Trump‘s authoritarian takeover is truly amongst one of the most feckless, cowardly and stupid „strategies“ I’ve seen in politics. With consultants like these, who needs enemies? (Don’t answer that)
Democrats’ favorite research firm told them to avoid discussing Trump’s “rising authoritarianism” and focus on tariffs instead.

Last week someone made this point, a lot of money people (including tech) made a very clear, very calculated decision that authoritarianism, even a corrupt kleptocracy, was better for them financially than risking Dems doing a wealth tax/tax fairness etc. It was an eyes-wide-open choice.
Cuban explains why companies like Intel are happy to give fascists a cut. The wealthiest people in the country see it as a smaller sacrifice than what progressives are proposing in higher taxes.
I’m the furthest from a Trump fan. But the reality is that he would have to shake very hard to equate to the shakedowns of the unrealized cap gains tax and warren’s tax that were proposed.
