So here it is, finally. Me and my debut novel.
I wrote my first murder mystery aged 15. There were way too many dismembered body parts for a children’s book, but we live and learn.
10 MARCHFIELD SQUARE is a contemporary whodunnit with Only Murders energy. If this is your jam, please check it out!
Third day in a row of being told 'in 24 hours...' 🤬
Trying to switch to a new phone contract and my phone's been bricked all day. There is no way in hell my number is porting 'by midnight' is there? 😑

This whole thread is AMAZING.
i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them

People of London! PLEASE SHARE. I lost my necklace last night (10th Nov), and I'm hoping someone has found it. I caught the Northern Line from High Barnet to Leicester Square, then walked to the Prince Charles Cinema, then the same back again. I only noticed it was gone when I got home.

I think it’s important to talk about how being a mother can affect your writing time, though. In my case I can say I had a very supportive and self employed husband who did a lot, but I still wrote most of my early books between 11pm and 1am when no one would interrupt me.

Reading is food for your mind. Like food, different reading choices serve different purposes. Some books are read for pleasure; some to satisfy a need. Some are like junk food; great as long as that's not all you eat. Some help to counter an imbalance in knowledge or experience. Variety is the key.

10 Marchfield Square has been included as one of Waterstones' Best Crime & Thriller books of 2025! Absolutely over the moon, and honoured to be in such company. Thanks so much, Waterstones, you've made my year! 🥰

It's the last week of October (and it's almost Hallowe'en), which means it's also the last week of The Unrecovered being Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month! Probably worth another boost then, and available here:

I'm so glad there are still publishers in the world who'll publish wonderful, quiet books like Leonard and Hungry Paul, and equally glad there are companies who will put them on television. What a lovely lovely thing.

If there is any better feeling than the one you get when suddenly you KNOW what your next book is going to be, I have never experienced it. This is the best part of fiction. There is nothing one moment, and in the next breath there is a book, waiting to be written. Magic. ❤️

Normally, when I'm all fired up about a new book, I don't watch much TV but I just binge-watched Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue because I could not look away.

I might be watching the best worst film ever right now. Made in 2025 (already GREAT), it features an arranged marriage between a crown prince and crown princess to unite two small european kingdoms except the princess elopes with a plumber so now her younger sister has to marry him instead.

What a month August was, confusedly switching between holiday mode and work mode like some sort of demon. Swam in the sea a lot, ate a lot, and read a lot, but also had more meetings than ever before, crammed in twice as much work as usual, and did a too-big edit on my proof pages. Can I rest now?

This was such a fun chat, especially about old bookselling days. I didn't even cringe when explaining how our home bookshelves are organised by genre!
