Is that a Jesus reference?
I’m really happy with Keith Wilson as mayor right now of Portland, he took a middle path which pleases neither the hard left or hard right … but is best for the common good!
I think you should start by apologizing for calling me a monster and suggesting that I want cops to beat the homeless.
Calling me a monster and lying about what I support is not a helpful way to have a policy discussion.
Please answer my question.
Can you answer my question please?
I do wonder (honestly!) do you think people should be able to live on the street no matter what? At what point (if any) would you allow enforcement and by what means?
There are enough, in fact more than enough, for current demand. If demand increases I hope more are built. This will take time.
These are the words you are trying to put in my mouth. I never suggested there were as many shelter beds as homeless people as of today.
Nope, the hope is they move into shelters and get better support. The city has neither the space in our jails nor the capacity in our judicial system to jail most of the homeless. This is just not a remote possibility.
Please don’t put words in my mouth. As I clearly stated there are far more shelter beds than our currently used. I don’t know why you think my comment was disingenuous. I assume we just disagree on policy, not that you are arguing in bad faith. I ask you assume the same of me.
They just checked my fare on the @trimet bus! I’m so happy!
Monopoly electricity prices are set through a regulatory process where state commissions approve a revenue requirement, which covers the utility's operating and investment costs plus a "fair" rate of return for shareholders.

So the more they spend the greater their earnings!
Great article. I would also add for-profit electrical monopolies have an incentive to spend.
There are many empty shelter beds right now, if they all fill up my hope is they build even more.

Where do you sit on this food chain Mr. Heller? Are you bought by the rich or are you the bamboozled middle class?
We already went over this.
You have to get the voters to approve these tax measures such as renewing the metro housing levy if you want to “tax the rich”; polling makes is clear they likely won’t unless they see less camping in public.

People don’t vote for taxes if they don’t think the programs they fund are working.
If you want more services how do we get the revenue to pay for it?
I agree the system is far from perfect, but how does living outside help them get the support they need?
Come down to a EITC tax clinic and talk to the working poor and see what they think about these issues (I have) - I promise you they agree more with me.
You know that I mean nobody here.
Everyone won’t be arrested, you are correct we do not have enough jails to do that. But it will serve to incentivize people to move to shelters or not put their tent in a sidewalk.

Meanwhile we can show progress on visible homelessness and get voter approval for additional affordable housing.
lol, what a straw man .. who in the world is arguing that the USA has the best social safety net?
Ok, how would you have the city raise more revenue?
