I would not be surprised if Trump cleans up his act a bit between now and the election, but G-d help us once the election is over.

Now ICE is just kidnapping people who look Somali on the streets of Minneapolis.

It is honestly worse than I ever imagined, complete abdication of the constitution. I hate these bullies so much.

While both groups face severe hardship, unsheltered homelessness presents a more acute, high-risk environment with greater unmet needs, even as shelters provide crucial, albeit sometimes underutilized, support systems.

Unsheltered homeless and unstably housed adults have higher levels of stress and more health risk factors than sheltered homeless adults
In the United States, approximately 580,000 individuals were homeless on a single night in 2020. Homelessness can be categorized into three subgroups: sheltered homeless, unsheltered homeless, and unstably housed. Few studies have examined the ...

I disagree with those opposed to shelter expansion. Funding for affordable housing at scale requires growing tax revenue.

Portland won’t come back unless we reduce visible homelessness. Sometimes short-term action is required for long-term solutions.

Clean up PDX, grow the tax base!
"The Welcome Home Coalition...will present a petition with more than 2,000 signatures asking the City Council to “stop funding mass shelter expansion and the harmful sweeps of tents and RVs … and put funding towards long-term housing solutions.”

Over the last decade, Portland has faced a dramatic and deadly rise in unsheltered homelessness. This crisis is what drove me to dig deeper: to meet with community partners, to listen to those living on our streets, and to study how other cities responded.

Clearly the worst thing Trump has done on the merits, though obviously not going to be the centerpiece of anyone's midterm ads.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Remember that under PERS Oregon is contractually obligated to pay high pension payments, no matter how poorly the market does.

If this downturn sticks and we don’t increase our population of taxpayers, Oregon schools are gonna face very, very deep cuts.
