Can someone explain why American presidents act like absolute tyrants with other countries with oil? (Venezuela/Iraq) when the US itself has lots of oil and lots of money. Like what are they actually gaining because Iraq was a total disaster even if Bush thought he would benefit? Or am
I totally off
President Trump appears to be counting heavily on U.S. intervention in the oil industry to help transform Venezuela, a proposition that could prove to be complicated and expensive. Here’s what to know about the country’s oil industry.
What to Know About Venezuela’s Oil Industry as Trump Plans U.S. Intervention
Venezuela claims to have more than 300 billion barrels in the ground, but it is only producing about one million barrels a day.

A quick google informs me that after this surge, Australia provides about 4% of our beef imports, and our beef imports are about 25% of our consumption. So this headline is basically saying “anger as 0.6% becomes 1% of total” and I’m not sure that’s particularly justifiable

Meanwhile Robin Ince genuinely has been cancelled for daring to voice his opinions and for defending trans people.

Where's the outrage from the "cancel culture" lot?

What are the Free Speech Union doing to help him?
Robin Ince reveals to last night’s audience at a recording of Infinite Monkey Cage that the BBC has forced him to resign over his support of trans people

I was at The London Docks earlier in the week and a there was a plaque of the 1889 London dock strike. A stark reminder of what Labour movements can achieve. This was supported by many groups in Victorian Britain. 1/2

Louder for the racists at the back! 📣
And all without painting any roundabouts…
"Migrants who came to the UK on skilled work visas in 2022-23 will make a net contribution of £47bn to the public finances over their lifetime, according to new estimates from the government’s Migration Advisory Committee."

Not surprising, but some observations (1/n)

Reform UK councillor slapped with a £40,000 fine for hiring an illegal worker. 🤔

So much for "taking back control", apparently the rule is: deport them… but only after we’ve squeezed some cheap labour out of them.

A masterclass in hypocrisy!

The Trump administration's foreign policy strategy attacks allies including the UK & has been enthusiastically greeted by the Kremlin. Last month, the USA announced a 'peace deal' the Kremlin had written.

And in the UK, the media is full of people still wibbling about 'Trump Derangement Syndrome'.

The difference in media coverage on political scandals on the Left and Right is actually staggering. Angela Rayner Stamp Duty scandal V Nigel Farages? His was barely mentioned, never scrutinised, she was hounded until she resigned.
