I don't believe I've ever seen Ted Levine speak so candidly about his regrets of portraying Buffalo Bill in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. He and some of the crew on the film were asked about the film's cultural transphobia by The Hollywood Reporter.

Today I'm remembering the courage of Jesse Jackson across his life, including the 1984 DNC when he called for the Party to support the inclusion of queer people in their coalition at a time both parties and the public were indifferent to our suffering and opposed to our equality.

Most Americans have a negative to slightly negative opinion of Jesse Jackson, and that is 100% on purpose.

in 1988 his presidental platform included:

-creating a single-payer system of universal health care
-ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment
-declaring Apartheid-era South Africa to be a rogue nation
-supporting the formation of a Palestinian state

jesse jackson was constantly played as a punchline on 90s late-night TV to the point that i didn't understand his history of activism and serious left-leaning political platform until i was much older. i have to think, to some degree, that was on purpose.

Jesse Jackson was an early and ardent supporter of gay rights. In fact, on July 17, 1984 at the DNC in San Fransisco, the first speech EVER at a national political convention calling for gay rights was delivered by none other than Rev. Jackson himself.

They're going to walk into midterms thinking "we aren't them" is a platform, offer no bold solutions, and get dog walked.
Hope that Democrats aren't relying on the enthusiasm of their base to win in November www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

I'm tired of the lesser evil. These hoes wanna live in Omelas or something? Can't we just have a good candidate who doesn't have a forsaken basement child to prop them up? I just want someone who doesn't chum up to types like Charlie Kirkn't, and wants people to be able to live somewhere.

Posts like this make me laugh, given the Democrats have destroyed themselves all on their own.
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

A human being woke up, picked up a phone, typed this, and pressed post
Is right now a good time for the democrats in Congress to be very public about fighting for trans rights? And I’m not sure what slur you’re accusing me of using, but if I’ve said something wrong please do let me know.

My theory is that the show followed pretty much exactly what his plans were, and he saw the blowback from the fandom and decided to never finish it.
