Local chapter of Indivisible (indivisible.org) in Southwest Virginia’s New River Valley, in Montgomery County and surrounding localities, since January 2017. Our mission: elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.

Word to the wise: even if you aren't in a city under direct attack yet, you want to be developing these sorts of relationships NOW with sympathetic folks at local institutions.

Absolutely insane that my life has become texting with local church pastors to try and find a safe place to hold an emergency meeting for parents at my kid’s’ preschool to figure out how to respond to the federal government kidnapping neighbors.

Unfortunately, the leverage Democrats had to extract real policy changes was squandered under Schumer’s failed leadership. Instead of holding the line to force negotiations on a real solution, he allowed a surrender that Republicans seized as fuel for the fire for their extremist healthcare agenda.
