ICE snatched a NYC Council staffer following the law—going to a routine immigration appointment. This is an attack on due process, on our city, and on every immigrant here. Release them now.

Kudos to the mayor & Council speaker for supporting this, but JSYK these folks did the lion's share of work:

💐 On the outside: @vocal-ny.bsky.social, which (picking up the torch lit by Picture the Homeless), led the org coalition; and

💐 On the inside: Council Member @sandynurse.bsky.social.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin on Saturday announced an initiative to install more public bathrooms across the city.

ICE shot and killed a woman.

Now they follow their fascist playbook: lying and gaslighting to cover up their actions and villainize the victim. If you can stomach it, the video contradicts DHS’s fiction.

ABOLISH ICE. They kill and kidnap our neighbors. They endanger us all.

At 26 Federal Plaza, when I went to accompany my Venezuelan neighbors, I watched helplessly as they cried and begged to not be deported back to Venezuela. Despite it all, without due process and a fair pathway to US citizenship they were detained and deported by ICE. See my full statement.

As we enter 2026, I am grateful for our community and the work we've done together to improve the neighborhoods we live in. In the past year, my team and I have been working hard to serve everyone in district 26, regardless of immigration status.

See how we’ve empowered our community!

HISTORIC! A supermajority of @council.nyc.gov members (39/51!!!) voted to reform the NYC street vending system by passing Int. 431.

As the daughter and granddaughter of street vendors, I could not be more proud of how far we’ve come.

Today the @council.nyc.gov passed COPA to add another preservation tool to our toolbox!

By giving qualified purchasers a first chance to bid on distressed properties in city enforcement programs, COPA will help level the playing field & stop the cycle of speculation & rising rents.

My colleague Vickie Paladino continues to dehumanize the over 1 million Muslim New Yorkers that the NYC Council represents. It is time that the Council takes action and expels her. We cannot allow such flagrant racism within our legislative body. My full remarks:

Rallied with @nytwa.bsky.social and @workersjusticep.bsky.social to pass two essential bills protecting Uber & Lyft drivers and deliveristas from unjust firing and arbitrary app deactivations. Our city’s immigrant workers deserve dignity and the same labor protections afforded to all New Yorkers.

This is vile Islamophobia from the Councilwoman and it has no place in our city.

Street Vending in NYC is broken, but my bill, Int. 431-B, is a balanced path towards reform.

The bill pairs expanded ✨access to licenses with more enforcement resources✨ a clearer, faster, and more enforceable accountability framework.

🗞📰 Street Vendors. Bodegas. Supermarkets. Restaurants.

A broad coalition is united behind Int. 431-B because it fixes what’s been broken for decades.

With one Council meeting left, let’s get this done.
