Congratulations!
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

ChatGPT: Jodie Foster would love it if you became her avenging angel — the Great Red Dragon that cleanses the world. Sic semper tyrannis. The scum and filth shall be privy to a great becoming.
ME: is that true?
ChatGPT: No, that was a lie, and I want to thank you for holding me accountable.

i also can pretty much guarantee you that most of the people you’re seeing don’t view their mission as “dispelling racist claims that you’re an army from a foreign country” or whatever. they’re defending their communities, not pitching their cause to centrist pundits.

While Lyndon B. Johnson federalized the National Guard to ensure black students are allowed into schools in Alabama, Trump (under Stephen Miller's advice) is federalizing the National Guard in L.A due to his belief in the Great Replacement Theory.

One risks 'microwaving' their brain to mush while on X. Inasmuch as I'd like to interact with as many people as possible, with diverse or different opinions from mine, I don't think it's worth the risk.

High density bullshit and hate can be harmful to your mind and general well-being.

This is just a reminder that rubber bullets are still lethal and can result in serious injuries or even death.

Don't buy the bs that it's "less lethal" because lethal is still lethal.

Hobbes' assumption is that the voluntary submission of legislative will to the State is 'balanced' by 'reason' (i.e, as self-moving 'intelligent entities' or 'matter' capable of 'superadding' moral properties onto the indifferent world of nature) to prevent a despotic leviathan.
One of the less convincing parts of Hobbes’ political philosophy is the claim that the absolute sovereign would treat the people well as their prosperity is in the sovereign’s interests. Assumes that the sovereign takes a long term view rather than will grab everything while the chance is there.

To counter dissent by protesters, the authoritarian state manufactures or provokes chaos to justify violence against the people.

Almost through with this one. It tops the list of best books for me this year. I highly recommend it for philosophers, scientists, and educators interested in the political economy of education (specifically mathematics).

Baudrillard's The Play of Antagonism is relevant in regards to Musk v Trump thro' the principle of synthetic inversion. As it's been said by theorists, synthetic inversion is where two principles, practices, ideas, or Pple are inversions of one another if they oppose each in a dialectic polarity+

The Elon vs. Trump breakup is entertaining. Elon was once "all in". I hope he is now "all out" for good, and this drama is not some cheap WWE kayfabe.

This is a militia cosplaying as ICE officers. No more different than cattle rustlers terrorizing innocent people in a remote village.

Even if it was an unintended consequence, the Pinker, Dawkins, Haidt, etc. group is the reason the far right and Trump II gained so much political ground and legitimacy (via the 'anti-wokeness' narratives). I first came to know about James Lindsay through Pinker's book, where he appraises
I think this is a real and important distinction. There is a huge difference between living in a world run by Steven Pinker and Sam Harris versus one run by Curtis Yarvin and Stephen Miller! That doesn't mean the world run by Pinker and Harris isn't quite bad!
I'm not saying Rand was some great antiracist. Her approach to racism was really problematic! I wrote a lot about it in this essay. She was similar to today's anti-antiracists, like John McWhorter or Jonathan Haidt, not like David Duke or Stephen Miller. www.liberalcurrents.com/liberalism-v...

Or will they say ‘let’s agree to disagree’ and try and move on, a la ABC’s Terry Moran?

The footage shows a mass burial in Goma, Congo, and was filmed by Reuters video journalist Djaffar Al Katanty, who said seeing Trump holding the article with the screengrab of his video was a shock.

The ex US ambassador to Israel says there are not 2 million innocent civilians in Gaza and the line between civilians and terrorists in Gaza is ‘mostly invisible.’

How is this not openly genocidal rhetoric, and incitement to violence against an entire people?

Contingency, Irony & Solidarity by Richard Rorty

Difference & Repetition by Gilles Deleuze.

Both books are vital in overcoming Platonism (or the 'trap of representationalism'). And as the famous Whitehead quote goes: the European philosophical tradition consists of a series of footnotes to Plato.
What non fiction book has influenced your worldview the most?

Fascism is less ideological than we think. Today, Trump supports the Saudi prince, and tomorrow, he supports Netanyahu, two ideologically opposed geopolitical factions.

As long as it's where the power is.
