Wanted to share this unused cover for John Le Carre's THE CIRCUS: LOSING CONTROL.

I wanted to evoke the look of older spy novels while creating a little intrigue and standing out on the shelf a bit. This one made it all the way thru to finished but the licensor had a change of heart (it happens!)

Next level: if you have won an award you are an award winning artist. If a critic has acclaimed you or your work, you are a critically acclaimed artist. Any kind of critic, any kind of award. There's no rules for this stuff.
Evergreen advice for new artists, remove "Aspiring Artist" or whatever variation out of your bio! Are you making art? Then you're an artist! Life as a creative can be difficult enough as is. Starting off on the path by putting yourself down doesn't help you.

if I may add: I put all my bullshit in brackets. whenever I'm stumped, or need to fact-check something, or the syntax is fucked, or I need to rewrite a passage. anything funky goes in brackets so when I'm ready to revise, I can easily search the doc for them and find all the bullshit.

Big one here, gang.

This list is the culmination of many things—8 years of reporting on local film, diving into Oregon film history during the pandemic, getting obsessed with Kelly Reichardt (though anyone can and should do that.)

Thanks for the space, WW.
