Atheists like antitheists who think they know everything about organized religion, when in reality their basis for it is entirely Christian centric, and advocate for antisemitism, islamophobia, and discrimination against other religions thinking they all have the same societal power as the church

Anyways!! In non-discourse related discussion, I had an AMAZING time today at @aadl.org's A2CAF event!! I went with my friend Kaden to get some resources on making indie comics and left with an obscene amount of goodies lol. I'll tag authors and artists in this thread later but this was awesome!!

Also, Judaism is an ethnoreligion. To be ethnically Jewish is to be religiously and culturally Jewish and vice versa. Even for Jews who don't believe in G-d. That's why it's so difficult for gentiles to convert. "Destroy all religion" as a mentality is inseparably tied to ethnic cleansing.

Just say you hate Christianity. I say this AS A LUTHERAN. Christianity has a fucking sucky and oppressive history and there's no denying that!!!! It is valid to hate Christianity!! But do not assume Christianity's track record applies to every faith structurally because it doesn't!!

I don't care if you're an atheist and don't associate with a religion or spiritual lifestyle in particular, but I legitimately don't think there's a way to be full on anti-religion and not get Jews, Muslims and non-abrahamic faiths caught in the crossfire.

Maybe. But behind the annoyance of the atheist there is typically much less bigotry, authoritarian tendencies, tax evasion, science denialism, closeted sexuality, etc.

Atheists like this unironically make the fundamentalist Christian Right's job so much easier. Almost like they inexplicably promote Christian Hegemony by treating other faiths and ethnoreligious groups as if they have the same structural power as the Christian Church 🤔🤔🤔

To be clear, there are situations where moralizing popular art is necessary, specifically when the creator is a shitty person who uses the profits to exact harm on people, and is still alive to do so. Supporting Harry Potter is transphobic, racist and unethical.

Mainstream music isn't inherently bad and I think people have lost the ability to criticize popular art for what it is rather than deflecting it back onto fans of that art needlessly or moralizing enjoyment of it. When you get to that point you stop being a critic and start being a hater

Being sincere, I'm glad Rebecca Sugar is getting consistent animation work again. While I haven't watched it in years, Steven Universe was formative for my teenage self in exploring themes of queer identity and politics surrounding kindness and liberation. It's a show I cherish despite its flaws.

Most of my problems with Taylor Swift are related to things outside of her music (her massive carbon footprint and extremely "left of center" politics for instance) and while I will clown on her for that, I can't justify clowning on her fans listening to her music as a fucking Beatles fan 💀💀💀
