If you want to know how my long-Covid brain is manifesting itself tonight:

Was trying to find the new Doctor Who spin-off on Iplayer and was getting frustrated; until I realised I was - genuinely - searching for ‘Russell Tovey Fucks a Fish’.

As Dutch cities continue to grow, space is being reallocated to walking, cycling and public transport. Across the Netherlands, the role of the private car is being reconsidered. New blog post and video.
When Space Runs Out: Rethinking the Role of the Car in Dutch Cities
Dutch cities are changing rapidly. One of the aims of this blog is to document that change, and there is plenty of work ahead. Much of what I record involves changes to streets: a before-and-after of a reconstructed street is relatively easy to capture in images. Shiny new cycling bridges can steal the show, and a new continuous-cycle route perhaps even more so.

We're copying the UK on this and we need to stop. As per my recent article:

Raised crossings and continuous footpaths are safety and mobility measures -- it's a red flag that some disability campaigners are fighting them irishcycle.com/2026/01/07/r...

My controversial take is that shitty instagramers and tiktokers have been pumping out slop for years before we had algorithms to create it for us. The current slop crisis is simply a symptom of that.

An Urban Arrow cargo bike has nearly the same physical footprint as a Smart car. While the car is marketed as "tiny," the bike is often labeled as "huge" by those used to traditional bicycles. This irony highlights how much space we waste on bloated, car-centric infrastructure.

If you’re a paid user of X, you are now identifiable as having access to a tool that can generate CSAM images, and indeed, are liable for knowingly funding its hosting and development.

Again, "I only make CSAM for money" would not help an ordinary person's defence, but would aggravate their sentencing.

Here we go again. Attempted to cycle into town but gave up halfway. The cycle paths are not gritted.

No change since I wrote this three years ago.

Gritting cycle paths? That’s not normal for Norfolk!

Entirely unsurprising, but there’s clearly no plan to treat the new multi-million pound cycle path along the North Tyneside coast (or indeed the pavement) - lots of evidence of cyclists though…

I hate to be a broken record but if you're still using X, stop. If it becoming a Nazi hivemind wasn't bad enough, now the AI Musk developed at the expense of the health of the community he built his data center in is allowing people to AI generate naked images of children.
This does seem just a little bit bad! Idk the sort of thing you’d think politicians might distance themselves from or something!
