I had a politically heartbreaking week, but also had so much community support, love, and friendship. I was moved by good art, and bad art (love you, John Waters). Even my broken body was kind to me. I will try not to feel guilty about all this joy.

The imperial boomerang hitting back is giving me mixed feelings because the people who enjoyed the zone of interest until now are still not making the connection between what they were complicit in to maintain their comfort and what is happening at "home" now.

As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.
