I did translation hacks, fixes, and re-releases for the N64. Games: OoT/MQ, Majoras Mask, Shiren 2, Getter Love, Doshin, SimCity 64, 40 Winks, Glover, SSSV, etc. Now I do scanning, type-ins, and game preservation with Gaming Alexandria

God I love that word. I can't remember where I saw it, but there was some video that said "Castlevania got its name because it's a Metroidvania set inside of a castle".

New Blog Post: What does it mean to add #64DD to Nintendo Classics?

I wanted to explain what it needs to do 64DD emulation, both technically for the 64DD hardware itself, and the games.

Dokodemo Dodgeball Fantasia (どこでもドッジボ−ルファンタジア) was a dodgeball RPG released for keitai in 2006. Yes, you read that right! It's got a coming-of-age story and a real time battle system. We preserved this game earlier this year, and it's incredibly unique.

Check out this amazing remastered (at 4k!) version of "The Making of Myst" mini-doc! Originally included on the Myst CD-ROM in 1993, this version has been carefully recreated by Ted Sase using footage preserved by the VGHF!

I finally got the N64DD mug scanned in at high resolution (1600dpi 48-bit) and uploaded to IA. You can see the scans here: archive.org/details/64dd... and get a better view of the RandNet icons pictured on it.
A hi resolution scan of a mug. The mug itself has a yellow bar along the top and bottom. In the top bar in white is the letter S with a circle around it. In the bottom bar is Stachara 1999-2000 in white letters. Visible between the yellow bars are 8 columns of 6 icons each. The icons are cartoon-like images of animals, people, gens, a key, skull, party hat, etc. Some are outlined with black lines and others are fuzzy around the edges.

This went completely under the radar, but the Star Trek mainframe game created by legendary game designer Don Daglow was found a few years ago.

September 27 2000, Shiren the Wanderer 2 debuted on the N64 in Japan!
Designer Kouji Malta, who also worked on Earthbound, was inspired by the board game Catan when implementing the castle building mechanics; this entry remains a very popular game in the series to this day!

A quick video of me unboxing NES Silver Surfer. This is a freebie copy that the team received when the game was launched. It's been sat in a cupboard for over 30 years as I have no way of playing it as it requires an NTSC NES/TV setup. Therefore, it has never been played! Mint condition.

A 1991 ad for the North American release of 87's Dragon Quest II that debuted in Japan, now renamed Dragon Warrior II for a new audience.

The ad also shows a posting for a "pre-release contest" for Dragon Warrior III promising twenty winners a chance to win a "pre-release Dragon Warrior III pack".
In the upper right corner is displayed "The #1 RPG in Japan" which was well earned -- Dragon Quest II (its original name) was a tremendous hit in Japan. By the end of 1987, it reportedly sold 2.4 million copies (contextually respectable numbers in today's world but in the late 80s, an absolute phenomenon).

A few screenshots decorate the page as well which simply asks readers to "Seek Allies for Your Quest. The Vast Journey Lies Ahead."
