I don’t have a description because I have not decided whether or not to commit to being a Guster fan account.

On top of every other problem with this framing, hoarding is literally not the word for this. "That's fine; I don't need another one" is kinda the opposite of hoarding.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

Guy at the airport conspicuously reading the new David Brooks book in case there’s an emergency in which we need to urgently identify the dumbest motherfucker on the plane.

It never occurred to me before that that’s where the driver of the tank sits.
Despite inspiration from the T-34, the Panther was based on a traditional German layout with a transmission in the front and a rectangular turret with a large external mantlet. Even the earlier VK 30.01(D) with a rear transmission was an original tank. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

25 Nov 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- In unusual move, Sen Susan Collins (R-ME) signs petition for referendum on the 2026 ballot that would bar trans students from sports teams, locker-rooms and bathrooms. She's in a hotly contested election & this is pbly one way to increase Rep turnout.

I actually don’t think he would have. Like the way Johnson was—uh—inappropriate (?) was tactile. Like trapping people with your dick out, lifting a dog by the ears, driving your car into the river. I don’t think that virtual transgression would hold the same appeal.

I teach immigrants and the two biggest groups outside Latin America are Afghans and Vietnamese. Which, like, what do these two things have in common?
The idea that we get *less* migration from a destabilized Venezuela is madness.
Cracks me up how you could just replace Venezuela and Venezuelans with Iraq and Iraqis and it’d be indistinguishable from something written in 2002

Makes me sick to watch politicians try deliberately to destroy this and then put on a jersey and post gig ’em aggies during football season.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

Literally the reason Twitter sucks now is all these foreigners logged on willing to do racism for pennies on the dollar and undercut our home-grown American racists. We need to erect serious trade barriers to protect the integrity of our domestic racism industry and preserve racist jobs.

I think that counter intuitively this is good for democrats because if billionaires are unambiguously their enemies it frees them to stand for something.
The partisan divide has grown, too. The wealthiest 100 tended to give more to Republicans than to Democrats before last year. But giving to the GOP spiked in 2024, with *84%* of donations going to back Republicans or conservative PACs.

in general the American individuality and distrust of government disappears once criminal justice enters the conversation

Americans hate the government meddling in their everyday affairs but "criminals" are a separate class of ontologically bad people that they could never ever be a part of

I will continue to have my serious issues with center leaning Democrats but this is the needed energy and I appreciate that he's bringing.
Mark Kelly: "The message he sent a couple days ago was he declared that loyalty to the Constitution is now punishable by death. Those are serious words coming from the president. He's trying to intimidate us. But I'm not going to be intimidated."
