Emerging from stealth mode to announce my upcoming book: Apple in China: the Capture of the World’s Greatest Company.

It’s the untold, 30-year story of how the tech giant tied its fortunes to America's biggest rival, transforming both company and country.

Niet zo lang geleden betekende 'Made in China' vooral: goedkoop. Tegenwoordig staat het juist voor kwaliteit.

Een cruciale factor in China's tech-succes is, verrassend genoeg, het Amerikaanse megabedrijf Apple. Hoe dat zit, zie je hier:

I spent most of the day in the car listening to Apple In China by @patrickmcgee.bsky.social and it's wild how much money, talent, and intellectual property was shipped to China by Apple over the last few decades. Imagine if that had been spent here.

Highly recommend the book!

This is how the US lost manufacturing — offers just like this. Nobody cared because it kept the knowledge economy. But now…
Man comes to the US from Lebanon. Starts out delivering pizzas, becomes a Nobel winning neuroscientist. Trump freezes his funding, he gets an email from China offering to move his lab “any city, any university I want" with guaranteed funding for 20 years.

What are we doing?
