I'm using the US colloquial meaning here as in the soviet style government intrusion in the free markets taking control of private businesses.
The formal theory by Karl Marx (haven't re-read the manifesto since 9th grade in 1974) is a nice ideal but doesn't scale up to a governmental level.

It appeared to me that Silverglate changed to wanting to get in on the right-wing cancel culture grift after his wife of over 40 years passed away in 2020. Originally thought it might be an age related issue but now it seems it is just lust for cash. Here's what I wrote about the situation in 2022

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope!

and the subhead helps props up a false claim this professor was up to something seedy as something up for debate

NYT headline: "Rutgers Expert on Antifa Tries to Flee to Spain After Death Threats"

subheadline: "Mark Bray was teaching courses on antifascism. Turning Point USA accused him of belonging to antifa, which he denies. His flight to Spain was canceled abruptly on Wednesday night."
