I like books. Also politics, but I'm trying the 12 step detox programme. Food, music, travel and films get my interest too.

Lake District resident (well, give or take a mile or two).

It's winter, therefore it's apple crumble season.

Done properly, with custard, of course.

Possibly 150,000. At least 400,000 dead in the war to date.

The wonderful Ozzy Osbourne would have been 77 today. In 1982, he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas for peeing up the Alamo Cenotaph. Aghast police questioned him & asked "Would you do this up the walls of Buckingham Palace?" to which Ozzie replied "Of course I would!" #OzzyOsbourne

We've all done it, can't understand the fuss.
A raccoon goes on a drunken rampage in a closed Virginia liquor store, hitting the bottom shelf where the scotch and whisky were stored before smashing bottles and spilling alcohol everywhere before passing out on the floor.
Raccoon goes on drunken rampage in Virginia liquor store and passes out on bathroom floor
An employee at a Ashland, Virginia-area liquor store found the trash panda passed out on the bathroom floor at the end of his drunken escapade.

Tony Hart uses some nice pastels to draw Stonehenge. Even better than season 4 of The Wire. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBOA...

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

I grew up watching people I'm their late 20's pretending to be teenagers in multiple shows & movies so it's not really noticeable for me. Thoroughly enjoyed the last batch of episodes. Good, silly fun.
Watching STRANGER THINGS, and I honestly can't tell if I like this show still or not.

The long wait has dulled my memory of things, and the 'Every Episode a Movie' format makes them so bloated, long, and meandering. These 'kids' are all obviously adults now.

Fuck do I love David Harbor, tho...

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

I absolutely adore @annelouiseavery.bsky.social writing and her Advent stories are my absolute favourite - beautifully paced and crafted, original and moving
Advent Sunday & London was bitterly cold and wreathed in a damp fog which smelt of underground rivers and coal smoke. The Dragon of Kensington Church Street, however, was exceedingly well wrapped up in a Sèvres blue muffler and matching mittens.

Just binged the whole of the new #StrangerThings tonight. Wasn't expecting much, but it was as good, or better, than it's ever been. Can't wait for the next batch of episodes!

I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I hated the first film on an almost visceral level, and I'm normally fairly chilled about stuff I don't like but by Odin's braided beard it was so bad.
I am amazed that they actually made a third Now You See Me film when the first film was so utterly, mindbogglingly shit that I'm still angry about it a decade later.

Communities need used-book shops.

As the trends in our world are increasingly standardized and entrenched by "predictive" technologies that stifle innovation and reduce human actions into economic categories...

We need a full range of possibilities for readers and communities to explore and share.

It's not often you read something as brilliantly researched, informative and entertaining as this by by golly Jon Savage has pulled it off. His history of the (many, many) sung & unsung gay & queer heroes of modern music is absolutely majesterial.
