Husband blew some compressed air into my laptop as the fans were going wild. It has now developed a scary high-pitched whine that makes it impossible to concentrate on anything else while it’s switched on. Oh no.

Toddler wasn’t terribly impressed with the mall playroom. So she escaped into the craft shop next door. And omg … it is a good craft shop. I wanted to stop and examine all the wool. But I was pursuing a toddler who has become VERY fast and sure-footed. And I hadn’t got my purse. Or shoes!

One time in a supermarket, I happened to pick up a bottle of magnolia something or other and took a sniff. Instantly I was transported back to my adopted-great-aunt's house. She had died >20 years previously. I couldn't do anything this cool with that, though! www.positive.news/society/the-...

This person is now very sad and saying they regret their vote now that half the Hispanic students at our school didn't show up today.
Had a pretty liberal English teacher colleague become a Trump supporter after RFK Jr. endorsed. I think that was a bigger deal than many suspected at the time.

I'm organising a little Christmassy festival with my housing association - mimicking an adorable one that took place in our previous housing association. Swedish Christmas music, drinking Swedish glögg, etc.

I, and the other person most involved, are both immigrants. I find this so entertaining!

@joannechocolat.bsky.social I made a poor imitation of Vianne's spiced hot chocolate today. Taste knocked us over, but in a good way. Thank you for writing the recipe!

Talk about a heck of a way to wake up: I'd gone back to bed because lovely husband had taken 2-year-old out. So once I'd dropped off, the dear neighbours decided to drill a hole in the wall right next to my head! Cat and I both jumped out of our skins and left the room.

Smugpost: I haven't got a car. I have never owned a car. To be fair I live in Stockholm and have lived in London a lot of my life, but I have also coped in Cornwall and rural Wales. Long live public transport and investment in it.

I generally loathe ready meals but I just love ready made lasagne. I also like home made lasagne though it overcooks and dries out horribly easily. I had a shop bought lasagne for lunch and I just keep wanting more lasagne. I think I'm turning into Garfield.

A bit over 13 years ago I was doing MSc Astrophysics and loads of citizen science with @galaxyzoo.org and I just loved giving public talks about space. I also wanted to raise funds for FGM charities. So I put on a public space talk series to raise said funds.

Yesterday I did absolutely epic amounts of laundry and today I was going to have off doing laundry, but *shrug* *gestures towards 2-year-old*

What's everyone else up to?

Hey peeps, I wonder if any of you can help me track down a children's book.

I *think* the title was Peace at Last, but it's not the one by Jill Murphy about Papa Bear who can't sleep. It's about a family of elephants whose kids are causing mayhem while their parents want to go out. 1/?

What to do if ICE agents come to your workplace. I fear all too many of you will find this helpful.

Generative AI is ruining my motivation to teach. It is not a bold new era of information that I'm excited to see my students explore. It's a cheat that prevents them from thinking. It lets them avoid even a moment of confusion and struggle, necessary to process new ideas.

I will henceforth only respect TV journalists who, after getting a typical response from a politician, follow up with:

"Cool. That's not what I asked you tho."
