Dutch politics still occasionally roiled by controversy over airstrikes the Dutch carried out in Afghanistan, on a mission they undertook solely in solidarity with the US. Responsible for Uruzgan province. 25 Dutch soldiers killed there, including the commanding general’s son.
imagine being the father or mother or son or daughter or sibling of one of those brave British troops who died in Afghanistan, and having to listen to this crass ignorance

Still a big question to me is why Finland and Canada would supply or provide building support for- icebreakers to the US, given the political context of today. Just cancel the the whole thing !

Dozens of shadow fleet tankers have traversed the English Channel since promises of tougher stance.

Danish Straits see about the same numbers.

BBC is not clear on if they mean flagless or flagged tankers, but either way there are lots.

Pic related, sanctioned tankers this minute.

It says a lot about the reading comprehension of anyone who takes Mikki’s thread as trying to “shut down other people’s outrage.” 1/4

Here is a key part of President's Zelensky's address in Davos yesterday. What he says outwardly and implicitly is key. Trump actually hates Europe today, will not change, Europe needs to accept that and look after itself.
Bravo!

Liberal exceptionalism is still exceptionalism and real change must begin by acknowledging these basic historical facts. 15/

The centuries-long genocide of the Native American population is never mentioned, and the Sand Creek Massacre is instead reduced to an isolated event—or what Burns refers to simply as a “dark chapter” or a “shameful moment.” 13/

happened at Sand Creek, his vision of the past is nevertheless a highly
simplistic one, neatly arranged into national “triumphs” and “failings.” 12/
