what a policy failure to spend hundreds of millions on a bus rapid transit line and then cut funding for service so the bus isn't exactly so rapid(ly arriving) after all.

these cuts are going to be so brutal and we're going to need everyone hootin and hollarin' at legislators to find a solution

So then why aren’t we doing free streetcar rides?
This Saturday, PBOT is sponsoring free parking on the street and at all five SmartPark garage locations to make supporting local businesses easy on Small Business Saturday!

SmartPark is also sponsoring two free parking weekends on Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 20-21.

Feels like #orleg would have more people rallying to support this funding if they had passed a bill that actually funded things like road safety and alternative transportation. As it is, this seems like a touch stove/FAFO moment for a cowardly @oregondems.bsky.social approach to legislating.
Assuming those signatures are legit, Gov. Tina Kotek will want to start getting ready to lay off hundreds of ODOT workers -- or finding another option.

A successful referral would freeze taxes Dems say they need to fund those positions. #orpol

Yes Mamdani is charming but the reason someone like Trump can walk away feeling good about him after a conversation is because you can tell his politics is rooted in a deep love for the people and when communicated effectively, that’s disarming even for those who disagree. IMO everyone should be extremely mad about ICE. It's really fucking weird to spend your time organizing your anger at the one immigrant on city council who is also the person who has spent the most time trying to figure out what city powers can be leveraged to add costs to doing business with ICE.

Portland: Highly damaging transit service cuts may be coming in the next year. Still no sign of a plan on how to prevent them.

No, there is not a lot of waste in the system; almost all service is justified by ridership or equity (we did that work).
