Should that be an ok thing not only at an individual level but at an institutional level? Should this be considered a basic duty of government?

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

Bill Watterson is my favorite cartoonist. I adored the relationship btw Calvin and Hobbes as a child. But as I've gotten older, these strips feel even more tender and insightful. My respect for him grew when I learned of his stance against merchandising. Such principles are almost unheard of today.

while making some tea i remembered a substitute Physics teacher we had at school for a bit who'd end every lesson with a general "do you have any questions?" segment and one person asked why when you forget to boil a kettle you can tell by the sound because hot and cold water sound different
