I designed the cover for @billblume.bsky.social's newest book, To Hell and Back. It was fun trying out a completely new pen and ink illustration style

Thank you for doing this!

I'm a non-binary illustrator currently based in the US (though that's up in the air as my husband searches for a post-doc position).

I'm open to take on both commercial and private commissions right now.

Whelp. I saw The Substance tonight and now I want to hurl. Thematically it knew exactly what it was doing. The social commentary was spot on. The body horror elements are some of the grossest scenes I've seen in years.

I'll be over here curled in a ball if anyone needs me.

Watching the first season of Arcane with my kid. It's awesome. The animation is great!

Got to episode 5 and Imagine Dragons has a cameo as a bar band and it was so dumb. Just so, so dumb.

My kid has designed, built, and programmed a Rubik's cube solving robot from scratch using 100% vex IQ parts. This is the start of the solve where it scans the cube to figure out where all the pieces are (sped up 2x)

As someone working on my piece about the book world's response to Trump this letter is excellent. Not only should publishers adopt it, but it should be a model for other industries

"Live action" How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch trailers are out. Moana is in production. What is happening?

I'm sure it's a complicated mix of studio hesitation, audience's desire for the familiar, and more. But, goshdarn, is it depressing as someone trying to make new stuff.

wake up nerds, new JWST image!
‼️ New #jwst image alert ‼️ This gorgeous new view of the Sombrero galaxy shows that unlike in the visible-light images, the brightly glowing core of the galaxy doesn't shine, but we see instead a smooth inner disk, & we can see new details of the outer ring. More: science.nasa.gov/missions/web...

Watching Princess Bride with my kid again. Glad he likes it because, otherwise, he'd have to move out.

So BlueSky is an echo chamber, huh? If surrounding myself with cool people sharing the things they love, the stuff they make, and what that makes their world awesome is an echo chamber, I'm all in.

Sounds like a party. Thanks for being my echo chamber, y'all

So lonely, angry dudes are buying cybertrucks just as we all suspected?

Reminds me of the study from earlier this year that said people that purposefully make their cars loud have higher tendencies toward psychopathy and sadism. You don't say?

A reader is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Yes. This household loves Rekha Shankar.

This is a super interesting thread about scammers
We have a live example of why they're called "pig-butchering" scammers! They're called that because they use the whole pig, ie, they don't just take a little money from their victims, they slaughter them and use them all. I'm gonna be slow on this thread because I'm doing exhaustive alt text, but:
