My grandma received this diary as a Christmas gift from her sister 90 years ago when she was 17 years old. Starting tomorrow, I will share the short daily entries from life on her family's farm in Dakota County, MN, using the hashtag #1936diary

Must reiterate how important this is. Sunlight is our path out of this fuckery.
Friends, thank you for stepping up! Over $40,000 worth of dash cams have been ordered so far for ICE observers in the Twin Cities!

Early orders are trickling in, but we’re getting them packed and deployed ASAFP - several were installed yesterday, these are ready, and 300+ are on the way!

Really mixed feelings about this happening right now. Definitely only certain people will feel safe rooting around city parks after hours.

Especially aware today of what a privilege it was to be in the presence of Sir John Rutter and ~200 other talented musicians for a couple hours this afternoon.

There is no compromising with this regime, because regimes don't compromise. These people are fascists. Fight fascists always. No playing to their language or moved goalposts. No taking their statements as legitimate and reporting them. And then PROSECUTE THEM. Every last one of them.

I heard numbers just from a couple schools and there were a *lot* of kids out there. So powerful.
NGL, watching my kids and a very significant portion of their school walk out and march down to the Capitol got me more than a little emotional. There were a lot of students from all over town there (more than it looks like from the pic, since I didn’t have a good angle).

Look at them all. The most powerful leadership we're seeing in Saint Paul is coming from the kids.

I know Humboldt, O.W.L. and Como were there also! Hundreds of kids
The kids are alright! This is the group from St Paul Central High marching to meet other schools at the MN Capitol

I worked for many years as a fishmonger and rarely eat shrimp, primarily for this reason.
A few food safety updates from me. First, this overview of imported shrimp published last month. But it makes one key point. The USDA estimates 47 percent of imported seafood is contaminated, usually w/ either bacteria or stray pharma products. Be wary. Also we need better processing & testing.

I understand the urge to heckle, but sometimes your silent witness is more effective in the long-term
If you see someone getting detained, consider lowering the temperature instead of increasing it - the agent you just zinged isn’t going to take out their frustration on you, but the vulnerable person they’ve got in cuffs.
Immigration officers received a "legal refresher" reminding them that personal insults and rude gestures are legal, per documents leaked to me: www.kenklippenstein.com/p/immigratio...

The world dedicates a Poland-sized area of land to producing liquid biofuels such as bioethanol & biodiesel. Is there a more efficient way to generate energy?

Putting solar panels on the land used for biofuels, e.g., would produce enough electricity for all cars and trucks worldwide to go electric.
