the brahmsbrain. located between the ACC and the insula. fMRI studies found activation during exposure to music by german romantic era composer johannes brahms (1833-1897) and is associated with enhanced feelings of pleasure and happiness from the music of the suspected paramour of clara schumann

bear with me: you see a schematic overview of the brain in a lateral view (the image is from an elsevier overview page on the dorsal insula) with different brain areas that are highlighted. they don’t really matter for you to understand the image. between a region marked as “insula” relatively in the center of the brain and a region marked as ACC (anterior cingulate cortex) more towards the front of the brain, there is a small superimposed image of the face of romantic era german composer johannes brahms.
