I hope people can become familiar with the concept of not putting all faith into a single service/platform again. It was ten years ago that Skype became inconvenient so people switched from using it. Even further back people manually opted to download and use other browsers than Internet Explorer.

Not sure 2XKO puts the F2P fighter discourse to rest, but it certainly wounds it.
Purely funding a fighter on DLC clearly is a no go. The genre is in an okay place but needs that upfront fee. Low content is as ever clearly a dealbreaker. However the "F2P" demo w/online might still be the way to go.

Even being vocal about my issues with 2XKO I figured Riot would keep it rolling for a bit. Don't doubt the team's passion, but hitching the FGC to any company (no matter how established in the scene) as the path to anything is misjudged

Fighters mass adopting easy inputs is often sited in the genre's new boom. But really, the most successful have been ones that give you a choice like SF6. Options are what works, but this also means difficult balance and character design choices. Often annoying players. No design is neutral

I don't think most gamers or devs understand the fundamentals of combat gameplay. They just have a vague idea of how it should look.

There's always a lot of FGC discourse about fair design. But really I think the issue is linearity. Old games like VF5 often appear unfair, but there was a lot of micro choices leading up to these moments.

A big part of this is the psychosis around wanting the 40s advert wife, yet convinced they "unfairly" don't deserve one. They can't deal with women just being people, and people have a weird mix of standards for a partner and themselves.
Incels complain constantly about straight women having too high of standards, when in actuality an alarming amount of women have abysmal standards, and they can’t even meet those.
