they spent 4 years studiously avoiding confrontations with the supreme court because they have no interest in court reform. they’re quiet about ICE because they do not want to a single thing about it when they have power. it’s a shitty reality to confront but it is the reality.

shit this is terrible news to wake up to
RIP to Todd Snider, arguably the greatest American songwriter of the last 30 years.

If you’ve never heard of him, listen to this track written from the perspective of a dude in Mike Tyson’s entourage. Sheer perfection.

look the constitution is not a suicide pact (for my portfolio)
The NYT Ed Board published a piece today w/ a few correct criticisms of both Trump & the Supreme Court, which I thought was curious

Then suddenly the last line was like 'the Court should rule against Trump in the tariffs case' and I thought ahh that explains it

The Court has no problem facilitating the disappearance of civil rights. Shareholder value is a different story.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

also funny with ohtani and judge is that the sportswriters that voted for them would be the first to tell us that there is no problem with large market teams dominating baseball, everything is equitable and fine.

anyways lets check in how the ny jets are doing tonight in a league that has a cap

this is a good thread if you want to see a bunch of posts explaining to you how the nyt did a great job actually of exposing epstein and his associates - really perfect - and it is you stupid rubes who simply cannot comprehend how great of a job they really did
As a former member of NYT’s finance team & the co-author of this story exposing the relationship between Epstein & Bill Gates as well as one on Epstein & JPMorgan, I am really frustrated to see people claiming that NYT sat on publishable info about Trump and Epstein 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2019/10/12/b...

wild. anyone can look up surveillance data. granted i am much more worried about cops and ice having access to the data than the public, but data miners are also a concern.

sucks because i really would like to see less speeding and pedestrian deaths - reasonable traffic enforcement seems impossible

SENATE DEMOCRATS: fine, we give in

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
