Get in losers, we're going to attack and dethrone god.

writing fantasy 🌠
and trying not to despair

There is not much here... yet.

There will be a website... at some point.

But if you like fantasy (and sci-fi), adventures in the bronze age, political shenanigans, and immortal twinks, maybe you want to stick around.

When I was fresh out of college about to start my first publishing job at Penguin Random House, I was in awe of the writers I met.

Not just the chart-topping bestsellers. Also the debuts!

Here are the top 5 (hard) lessons they taught me about what it REALLY takes to write a novel. 👇

I get these types of followers regularly and block them on sight because 90% of them are probably bots.

If someone like this follows you and they've never interacted with your posts, block them.
Don't forget to keep an eye out for blue grifter accounts, doubly so now. They follow extreme numbers of ppl, have all sorts of garbage and hashtags in bio, and post nothing but political stuff trying to get you to doom scroll but also to spin you into giving them money. They also tend to not source

Hello, everyone! I started writing for fun 12 years ago when I lost all my progress in Angry Birds after getting a new phone, felt too demoralised to start again, and instead filled idle moments with imaginary characters and situations that I felt compelled to write down.

Started reading The Three Body Problem. It was gifted to me by a former workmate a few years ago and has been sitting on my TBR pile since then.

I haven't watched the shows and have no idea what it's about, aside from something to do with aliens, maybe?

I did not expect the first chapter 😬

many people on here might benefit from
blocking 50-100,000 people. this site is still perfectly usable if you screen out 50-100,000 people. i cannot recommend highly enough blocking 50-100,000 people.

I did not read a lot of books in 2025, but one of them was Metal From Heaven, which absolutely makes up for it.

Every time someone says "I can't write X, editors will never buy it" an angel loses its wings

Those shining adamantine feathers, sharper than death, slice all creatures in their path to molecule-thin ribbons, blood raining down onto acres of land rendered poisonous for decades.

So maybe reconsider

This set of observations is produced by my scrolling Reddit and otherwise listening to people talk about "how to write."

A) there is no requirement that any of your characters has any sort of "arc" let alone a redemption.

B) there is also no requirement that your fiction has a plot.

Naming characters and places in your book is tough, but remember, there's a hockey player named Ivan Ivan and a province named Newfoundland. You don't need to overthink it.

The most important post on Bluesky today
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

PER MY LAST TABLET,
“Why is it my lord is silent while I wag my tail and run about like a dog?”

I’ve been left on read too many times.

A man named Ashur-resiwa is begging a superior to answer his previous 3 letters, and we can maybe all relate to both sides of this particular coin.

The characters won't stop haunting me. They churn in my brain until I exorcise them by writing their stories.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

“You lifted him up and wear him around your neck like a seal”

You gave him too much power and trust

A cylinder seal was a stamp of authenticity on documents. People wore them around their necks. In this letter king Sargon II reprimands an official for giving a bad guy named Bēl-nūri too much power

Midnight showing of The Last Jedi in my old uni town. I was visiting after being away for a few years, and practically the whole town showed up! People (including me) were in cosplay, some of my uni friends were there, everyone was really excited, and it was such a wonderful atmosphere.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
