I absolutely support the laying of spike strips in the government's path
ptmoria.com
and by "not the hill I'd choose to fight on" I don't mean as the defender's office (they're doing the best with the hand they were dealt, it's absolutely an argument they should make), I mean more from Faruqui's own perspective

this is a better way of expressing where I think I'm at
timorous.cishet.net
but this all seems like a dispute that’s better litigated on a motion to dismiss the indictment. Faruqui might end up sticking his neck out only to get reversed in an opinion saying “maybe this is a merits issue but you still gotta file the case”
ptmoria.com
and obviously "the court has no authority to consider the validity of the indictment" is kinda insane but this particular point of procedure isn't the hill I'd choose to fight on
ptmoria.com
It's not, and this is a mess entirely of the govt's making, but from the transcripts and briefing two things stand out--(1) "this is highly irregular" is a weak argument, and (2) just at a base level, you generally don't want to bring a rule to a statute-fight (if that makes sense)

This is the thing with the Stewart case before magistrate Faruqui. As shoddily as the government has handled the indictment and as "irregular" as their actions have been, I don't actually think the defense has the better side of the argument on the issue being so hotly contested

Frankly I’m not even sure the defense’s argument wins the day, but it’s incredibly telling that DOJ didn’t even bother to engage with the law!

What makes Drake taking the L here particularly funny is that Kendrick Lamar absolutely intended to convey as a factual matter that Drake was a pedophile and the audience 100% took it as such.

NEW: Federal judge dismisses Drake's defamation case against Kendrick Lamar storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
The issue in this case is whether "Not Like Us" can reasonably be understood to convey as a factual matter that Drake is a pedophile or that he has engaged in sexual relations with minors. In light of the overall context in which the statements in the Recording were made, the Court holds that it cannot.

METRO said late Wednesday it will remove the rainbow crosswalks at Westheimer and Taft to comply with federal regulations shortly after Texas Governor Greg Abbott's direction about "political ideologies" on roadways.
METRO will remove Montrose rainbow crosswalks following direction from Abbott, TxDOT
The plan comes as the Texas Department of Transportation in a letter directed local jurisdictions to ensure that roadway markings align with federal law.

Not exactly sure how to describe this but it's a show that really knows how to play on your expectations without actually doing twists and turns. Totally enthralling. Also hilarious. Incredible television

Family dramedy that starts with four grown sisters suspecting their dad is cheating on their mom. The whole show just oozes talent, top to bottom, with an obscenely good lead cast. Whatever review said "so good it makes everything else look like shit" (paraphrased) was spot on

Folks, "Asura" is every bit as good as they say
the poster for "Asura" on Netflix, it's a picture of the four main characters, all young-to-middle-aged Japanese women wearing kimonos against a colorful background

I wondered about that when Cole got called up, off the top of my head I can't think of a time a guy with MLB experience went to the AFL

Not every joke on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was a winner but they had an all-timer in calling the Whole Foods stand-in "Big Naturals"

Also I need to revise an earlier statement: you do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to "Tempest." I could not name a more suck-ass show. Just downright dogshit of a show

I don't want to oversell it but it almost made me mad that *that* show had such a strong and thought-out conclusion, when many many better shows have stumbled at the finish
ptmoria.com
But some ridiculous parts aside, it was not a bad show, and had an exceptionally strong ending for a kdrama (many of which treat the ending like an afterthought at best). The central partner/associate relationship was actually nuanced and had interesting tension
