Atomic Blonde 2.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

Increasingly getting radicalized to the position that all lawyers should be referred to as, e.g., Dr. Sasho Todorov, Esq., and everyone else should just use Mr. or Ms. Last Name.
"only MDs are allowed to go by doctor" discourse is negatively polarizing me into being one of those "actually they STOLE the title from academics cranks"

The CA bar is extremely lenient with prosecutors (even more so than the usual kid gloves prosecutors get) but this really needs to merit severe sanctions.
Prosecutors in California used A.I. to argue that a 57-year-old man should be held without bail, his lawyers say, filing a brief that included wholesale misinterpretations of the law, as well as quotations that do not actually appear in the cited texts. nyti.ms/3M1bVye
Prosecutor Used Flawed A.I. to Keep a Man in Jail, His Lawyers Say
The case is among the first in which a prosecutor is accused of filing court papers marred by A.I.-generated mistakes.

Green bean casserole is garbage, but I'll even go 2 for 1 and add mac and cheese to the list.
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

It's accidental, but, thanks to Andor, Mon Mothma's actions in Rogue One where she launches an autogolpe on Yavin IV and seizes power gain a lot of notes of "oh, I totally get now why Luthen wanted to shoot half of y'all."

IMO the major problem with this thesis is that most developmental aid to Africa has been in the form of either direct government to government transfers or, in the Cold War, US pressure on the IMF to issue loans it knows it will never collect (basically the same as the above).
Reading Angus Deaton's book on developmental econ, and he's got a very good, long section making a case that aid to Africa has reinforced bad power structures while prioritizing the often wrong, occasionally ludicrous, development ideas of rich Americans.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that the peace proposal was Witkoff and Dimitrev freelancing together without particular support from either government, with Dimitrev then leaking the plan before anyone had actually gotten buy in from either side.

Doing another Highfleet run and you can call my Lightning II pilots 007:

0 Missiles tanked;
0 Battles without blacking out from the g-forces;
7 K/D ratio.

I don't want to be a jerk about it, but we really need to establish some distinguishing line between "reading" and "gooning."
Turning into my father one "the problem is no one reads enough books these days" grumble at a time

Oh wow. Michelin stars going to either a French or Japanese place starring exclusive seafood. The most surprising of results.

Unfortunately the problem is that this is mostly through the lens of the modern wave of QAnon and other anti-semitic conspiracies often being led by women and predominately female communities.
I'd be really curious if someone better versed in feminist theory wrote about what's happening on the right. Because between Greene, Mace, and Bobert, we've got this bloc forming of women who seem tired of serving a patriarchy of sex criminals. And their rhetoric is starting to lean that direction.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for 6 years for. I gave him my loyalty for free. I've never owed him anything. Let me tell you what a traitor is -- a traitor is an American that serves foreign countries."

The error here, IMO, is framing these as mistakes. Nuzzi has been consistently financially and professionally rewarded for these affairs, why stop?
Have the confidence to make mistakes in your life like Olivia Nuzzi did getting romantically involved with Keith Olbermann, Mark Sanford and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The 1619 Project was entirely dependent on vindicating Confederate propaganda (but wokely).
some people are edging dangerously close to trying to both-sides the goddamn Civil War but leftishly, and no, absolutely not, we are not doing that

I do have to say, props to prison abolitionists for shifting from "prison abolition requiring going back to lynching is a horrific lie by our enemies" to "lynchings and blood feuds are actually European peasant indigenous ways of knowing."
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful

Not to make this 100% gender, but when I was 17 my Mom asked me why I always independently asked my dad if something would be okay (in this case going out on a school night for the *only* time ever in my life).
the career people are helping the administration because they believe the administration will punish them if they don't and the democrats will be lenient

My first job for a law firm was working under David Andres, functionally the last white Democrat in Tuscaloosa. Both rural and urban Southern Whites vote GOP + manifest racist attitudes at significantly higher levels than Whites anywhere outside the South.
The south is not racist because of its demography - it’d the Blackest part of the country. It’s racist because of its history and also because of *rural* white enclaves — which exist all over the country

What's fun about families consistently portrayed in art over the medieval period into the early modern is that you can steadily see them devolve into science experiments over the centuries as the inbreeding sets in.

There's a big argument to be made that Trumpism is a revolt of America's hereditary elites who are apoplectic that the beginnings of a true meritocracy threatened to replace some of them.
The difference between the sociopathic and non-sociopathic takes is really quite stark
