This is pure exterminatory evil. They want trans people not to exist. Trans people whose legal rights and identities have been validated by law for decades.

They want them to cease to exist. They want them to die, rather than have to live with the discomfort of diversity.

Pure evil.

This is modern normativity way beyond the military. You do what you're told. If someone is paying you, they are god.

In the UK, it has actually been made legal for police offers to commit illegal acts.

Now, we can say (and we would be right) that liberal constitutionalism was always a mirage...
The only response is, "So you're saying service members SHOULD comply with illegal orders?"

Fun fact: this is explicitly why Dick Wolf created Law & Order: he violently hates defense attorneys and felt tere weren't enough shows about how defendants and their lawyers are scum

(also when somebody "gets off on a technicality" that actually means the cops committed a crime against them)

Academics have been known to do this as well. From the line in 2018 which someone who shall remain nameless uttered on a picket line ('I don't work at McDonald's, I shouldn't have to do this) to the intra-academic snobbery of 'they've made USS so bad I may as well work at a post-92' it's there.
I think doctors are uniquely bad at arguing for better pay. Remembering the “we only get paid the same as Pret workers” a year or two ago. It’s like a special ability to make me think they deserve less whenever they try to explain why they deserve more.

Remembering Joe Hill murdered by the state of Utah #TDIH in 1915.

Labor agitator, songwriter & Wobbly. Amongst many others, he wrote the song, "There is Power in a Union."

In a last letter to Big Bill Haywood, he said “I die like a true blue rebel. Don't waste any time in mourning. Organize!”

Me for Freedom. Grim times, but we absolutely must resist.
Jewellery can be confiscated from refugees to pay for processing them, as one minister gleefully told the press—seemingly blissfully unaware of the horrific echoes such a despicable policy conjures up.

See also govt trying to claim PIP was an out of work benefit, so they could imply those claiming it needed to 'get back into work' feeding the 'scroungers' narrative*

The government lies. Constantly

(*and those on out of work benefits aren't 'scroungers' anyway. They're people. They're us)
What on earth does asylum have to do with illegal immigration, and why is Starmer conflating the two?

(I know the answer: It's because he's a racist, in charge of a racist party.)

The New York Times obit for Alice Wong doesn’t mention Covid or Gaza

It ignores two of her biggest causes because of political bias

Alice fought tirelessly for Covid mitigations

She fought for the people of Gaza

She rightfully reminded us that the genocide in Gaza is a disability justice issue

Thinking of the awful, despicable stuff Mahmood is proposing on refugees, and thinking many years to when I interviewed Claus Moser for my PhD on post-war UK higher education.

Moser was born in Berlin in 1922. He was Jewish. His family fled Nazi persecution in 1936, and settled in Britain. /1

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Comfortables want all the good things the left works hard to make part of society but they absolutely, categorically do not want the left.

So you end up with the likes of Schumer and Starmer being the left most politicians possible and Comfortables aghast that all the good things are dying.

My latest for @freedompress.bsky.social on the Davie and Turness resignations.
The BBC—despite its best efforts—simply couldn’t give the technofascists enough of what they wanted. Too much fascism in institutions will never be enough for those they are trying to appease.

Laughable. Or it would be, if it didn't pile more pressure on staff.

There is a multi-layered crisis in British society which the government's policies are exacerbating.

The answer? An AI-generated target. As they are planning to restrict access to EHCPs and SEND support.

Beneath contempt.

Unions decry move, saying it will put more pressure on headteachers without tackling absence from classrooms

We are living in an unreal world.

I stopped appearing on BBC television because of very obvious govt interference in the output.

Was told before one broadcast that 'Downing Street' was unhappy with a particular story, so I shouldn't talk about it.

BBC is fundamentally right-wing in its output /1
Tim Davie, whose BBC cancelled The Mash Report and went after Lineker as part of a 'war on woke', going for not being right-wing enough speaks volumes about where the BBC will go next.
