This sort of thing is incredibly effective because of the absurdity

The most successful strike I've ever been on had a free pole dancing lessons station in the middle of it

This is one of those either you do full manual memory management or you have tasks handle the state they receive gracefully

I'm at a point with this stuff where I'm basically doing it manually because the opaque stuff is horrible to debug and is not actually helping the complexity much

spider facts!
did you know that spiders are commonly classified by how they use their web? these guilds include orbweavers, spaceweb weavers, sheet weavers, hrt pharmacist, ambush hunter, doll artist, mommy, or active ground hunters
pixel art illustration of a spider

she has 3 arms and 2 legs, wears a dark kimono with a coat over it. her arms fit into the wide sleeves together. she holds several needles between her fingers. she has long dark hair partially tied back, but mostly loose. pixel art illustration of a spider sticking needles into the thigh of a doll.

the spider is wearing a loose kimono and gently holds the leg of the doll up. the doll sits back and blushes softly as she watches the spider do her work. they are very comfortable together. they do this every week.

Sometimes making the funny little computer people is getting them to effortlessly coordinate via some simple sharing of data and other times you are shaking them and yelling in their face about the fact that failing to select a *new* target happens when the *current* target is no longer available

IMO this has always been a choice gamedevs have had to make - fidelity vs scale. it's just that the common wisdom tilts heavily towards fidelity these days.

chrono cross on ps1 made a choice when it decided to have 50+ playable party members and what it sacrificed was unique per-char dialogue

I think choice is becoming a victim of technological advances and player expectations. If you choose whether Bob or Jim live in a SNES RPG, you’ve got a different set of pixels and text boxes. Now you‘ve got a new set of voice lines, Hollywood tier animations, etc.

Thinking about it, the original Deus Ex may be the king of choice in a game with a story, because your choices are significant, linked to gameplay and unforced. From the very start, for instance, whether you use or avoid lethal force against the “terrorists” determines something about you.

If you know basic kabbalah it's actually not too hard to make a golem out of a labubu. Don't recommend it though. They have a pre-existing body-dharma. As soon as they wake they run straight for the sea. V hard to counter. Lost the first one. No idea what it's doing out there. Moved like lightning.

I watched this (link in the comments) a few months ago and I’m still delighted by it. Worth watching if you find Shakespeare “difficult” at times.

In Final Fantasy Tactics if a unit gains too much faith they leave your party to go find God. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had Beast Tongue and got a monster unit to maximum faith? Of course you haven't. No one has.

it's the thought that counts
a single-page comic by Spindle of the characters Tether, Ev, and Enoch.
- The first panel on the top left: Evelyne is on the left, leaning on Enoch and guiding him with something on the laptop, saying "Kinda like so". Tether enters on the right, smiling, holding a plate of cookies.

The second panel on the top right: Same positions as before. Tether places the cookie plate on the table, to which Enoch replies with "Thanks honey."

- Third panel on the bottom left: Same positions, but Tether is leaving now to the right after having placed the plate.

- Fourth and final panel on the bottom right: Tether is no longer in the shot, Ev says to Enoch "Can you even eat?" to which he replies "no but it's still really sweet." (For context, Enoch is nearly entirely cybernetics with the exception of his brain and spine, food isn't really something he eats anymore. Tether kinda be 'tupid sometiems and since she's new in the relationship with him, she's trying her best kek)
