Hello new folks! I'm a narrative designer at CCP Games and just finished a PhD in interactive narrative and character behavior systems!

I also make interactive fiction, experimental visual novels, and write plays!

I enjoy speculative fiction, Shakespeare, queer fiction, and being a weird gender

it's the thought that counts
a single-page comic by Spindle of the characters Tether, Ev, and Enoch.
- The first panel on the top left: Evelyne is on the left, leaning on Enoch and guiding him with something on the laptop, saying "Kinda like so". Tether enters on the right, smiling, holding a plate of cookies.

The second panel on the top right: Same positions as before. Tether places the cookie plate on the table, to which Enoch replies with "Thanks honey."

- Third panel on the bottom left: Same positions, but Tether is leaving now to the right after having placed the plate.

- Fourth and final panel on the bottom right: Tether is no longer in the shot, Ev says to Enoch "Can you even eat?" to which he replies "no but it's still really sweet." (For context, Enoch is nearly entirely cybernetics with the exception of his brain and spine, food isn't really something he eats anymore. Tether kinda be 'tupid sometiems and since she's new in the relationship with him, she's trying her best kek)

I sure as hell didn't have the language but I knew I was trans at probably 12 or 13 right around puberty starting and I never told a soul because of being at an All Boys School

3. The result has been a wave of abusive online spaces, from Facebook groups to local “parental rights” networks, that prey on parents. Now, a new Pew Research survey lays bare the toll of these tactics: only 31 percent of transgender adults surveyed said they are accepted by their parents.
More than 9 in 10 LGBTQ adults in the U.S. are ‘out’ to someone
Today, 96% of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer adults in the United States say they have told someone that they are or might be LGBTQ.

From my book about #Undertale 's official English-to-Japanese translation

I'd like to expand on this for an article on my site, so if you have any examples of "imprinting" situations in fandoms, please let me know

Some quick examples include FF4, FF6, Trails in the Sky, what else?

Six years ago, I wrote most of the Tragedian dialogue for Pathologic 2 in iambic pentameter. I'm back now doing the same for Pathologic 3. I figured it was helpful to write a guide on *how* I did it – in case I get hit by a bus and the team has to carry on without me.

If you hire me AND bruno, you could get two long-time collaborators who will make your material, whatever it is, *alarmingly* unhinged

Learned that I am being laid off from Heart Machine, and will be leaving the studio later this month.

Do you need a contractor? I've got a track record of leading scope-friendly script revisions late in dev. I have also done a lot of consulting on new IPs and pitches/demos. Feel free to DM me!

it is insane to me that you could basically get two narrative designers who can basically solve any problem within scope constraints. it’s like having people parachute in to rescue whatever you need fixing far beyond what you thought you could get

through asking designers for their top influential games, I have discovered /another/ reason design leadership is very herding-cats.

most lists had some game I'd never HEARD OF. either some essential piece of their design practice is esoteric OR they have deep defiance disorder, or both. hmm.

I had a very similar experience (though more full time jobs applied for) last year and it feels like sliding in underneath a closing door and needing to cut a few locks of hair that got trapped so I can keep running

research is funny sometimes because you are occasionally one of the first people to write about a specific piece of media and thus are the enabler of everyone who follows you to write about that piece of media regardless of whether or not what you said about the thing has any relevance to their work

I love cool and complex AI systems as much as the next person but sometimes you really just have to do what makes the poor little computer fella have readable anxiety and not chaos anxiety

I remember talking to an AI guy on a game about an enemy that was acting weird and he showed me the state tree and how smart it was at re-evaluating criteria and using fuzzy logic and meanwhile the enemy was bouncing off of every surface in the room and spinning in place and I had to be like, "man,"

completely agree, doors are the scourge of every single little person in the computer

yeah sometimes time and tooling and basic needs all conspire to mean you have to do the effective thing whether or not it's that cool

This is such an important point about HRT that gets lost in the noise: you will feel whether or not it is right for you long before any "permanent changes" set in.

This is one of those areas of medicine where letting people experiment freely and without judgement is the single best path forward.

That said, if you're considering HRT, my advice is simple: DO IT.

HRT is one of the safest medical treatments there is, and you'll likely know if it's working for you pretty quickly. Within a few weeks, my quality of life had improved to the point where my wife noticed and commented on it.
