Yeah, Abyss isn’t bad per se, but it’s got a lotta empty stretches. DS6 also drags for sure.

But Leviathan. Now that’s a hell of a picture. A sneaky “that guy” movie. Evil Meg Foster and her frost demon eyes. Great stuff.

Tbf I haven’t seen it in decades, but for me it was always a better movie on paper than in execution. Plus, it’s one of those movies where I truly think its knockoffs are way more fun, which probably unfairly colors my perception of it.

Watched the Siskel and Ebert At the Movies episode about The Abyss last night.

It obviously made me think of the 2nd Best “Underwater is Scary Movie of 1989”, Deepstar Six (The Abyss is 3rd, Leviathan is 1st btw), and it reminded me that DS6 has one of my favorite lines in horror movie history.

Gonna save everyone 5 seconds of scrolling so we can all move on with our lives.
