This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

Gallego sailed into office on the basis of not being Kari Lake. He was never a good candidate, never a good senator, just better than the alternative. If even this spineless moderate is speaking out, maybe there's hope the rest of the party will get there too. I can hope, at least.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.
