Not a journalist anymore. Not big on bluesky. Nothing of note to say.
It’s insane how bad the internet is now. You google “how to fix vacuum cleaner” and the first page is all results from AI slop websites with names like “vacuum kingdom dot com”

This is the political fallout of the “down with woke” stance so many people opposed to the “establishment” are praising today.
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

I still believe in what is basically a South Africa solution but the whites in South Africa did not commit 1,000 Sharpevilles a year for multiple years straight. What does truth and reconciliation look like in this circumstance? It would have to be based on actual foundational principle of justice.

Great example of what I was talking about, here is Hen Mazzig saying something he knows is untrue but that he thinks you'll believe.

In 1988 the Jordanians ceded its claims on East Jerusalem and the West Bank with the expectation that the Palestinians would soon receive their state.

Just finished listening to @iwriteok.bsky.social’s Thomas Thistlewood episodes and it really throws into relief how demented the insistence on venerating these people is

Idk how to explain this but the average BlueSky super user is probably way more tolerable than the average Old Twitter user, but the arguments people get into on here are way worse.

You don’t have to like Nuzzi or approve of her conduct to understand that Lizza’s choice to publish the material that he is publishing is meant to sexually humiliate her in public in retaliation for disappointing him romantically. The term for that is revenge porn.

If you start by saying how many people you are going to arrest, the entire operation should be enjoined. That’s not how anything should work.
Border agents are set to target communities in southeast Mississippi and Louisiana in a major immigration crackdown called "Swamp Sweep.”

Federal agents aim to arrest 5,000 people during the operation.

Holocaust education has worked too well for the Obama speechwriter, since when she rationalizes Israel's genocide, "I sound obscene." Maybe sit with that, Sarah

Antisemitism is a really big, important problem. There is significant, growing, IRL antisemitism, including by people who style themselves as antizionist. It’s catastrophic that people keep making obviously bad faith arguments on the subject. Maintain your credibility, please.

Here's the rub: the next government of the State of Israel will oppose any and all forms of Palestinian self determination. So will the next one. And the next one. What do you think should be done? If your answer is nothing then you are not my friend.

I am a one stater. It's fine if you're not, but if you are opposed to the use of external stimuli then what you're opposed to is any political program whatsoever that does anything for Palestinians. Also fine, albeit only if you are honest about it.

There are those who think there's nothing to be done except hope that somehow public and elite opinion on the issue simply evolves without any external pressure or stimuli. There are also those who think sanctions, economic pressure, the cutting off of arms, and diplomatic legal pressure is needed.

Every single self styled Zionist political party opposes partition, the vast majority of the Jewish public oppose partition, and both leaderships of the two major parties in the United States oppose partition. It is a fair question as to what exactly is to be done in the face of this.
62% of Israelis, and 73%(!) of Jewish Israelis, said they'd oppose Palestinian statehood, even if it's coupled with normalization with Saudi Arabia.
The Israeli public (not just government) and the rest of the world seem to be moving in 2 very opposite directions. www.jpost.com/israel-news/...
Israeli poll shows strong opposition to Palestinian state | The Jerusalem Post
Among Jewish Israelis, opposition is even higher at 79%, up from 76% in the previous JCFA poll. This marks the highest level of Jewish-Israeli opposition in its tracking since the war began.
