A bunch of new people are following me! That's cool!

I'm transmasc and nonbinary. I have ADHD, heavy on the H. I post about music, fancy sports, and my cats. I have been extremely online for 30 years.

I work in education research. Government funding is good, actually.
Day 18: The B-52s - Rock Lobster
#20SongsByYear 1979

It wasn't a rock! It was a rock lobster!

Seven whole minutes of indelible, unmistakable riffs and crustacean party euphoria.

I have no costume pics. Jackie Wong almost certainly does.
First name Florence, last name Andthemachine. Sometimes I forget when I'm skateposting and not musicposting.
Hell yeah Kaori Sakamoto! This program is so on the nose, and I love it. Lots of choreo difficulty - changes in edge, speed, and upper body; no chance to breathe. Awkward free leg in some jumps, but no actual trouble. #GPFrance #GPFigure
If Isabeau Levito gives us nothing but midcentury ingenue drag for the rest of her career, it'll be a sparkling artistic choice. Weird in-air positions, especially on her 3Lo, but seem to work better for her than trying to be normal. #GPFrance #GPFigure
I'm still a big Chaeyeon Kim fan, getting more so as she's bringing the angst and drama in her performance. She rotates so fast in the air! I will be angry all day that the 3F curse came for her. #GPFrance #GPFigure

"Kaufmann’s report was wildly inaccurate, riddled with fallacies and errors. Perhaps most significantly, as data scientist Jacob Eliason wrote, Kaufmann appears to have used only the raw dataset from FIRE’s student surveys, rather than the weighted data, adjusted to represent a target population."
Right-Wingers Celebrate Flawed Study Claiming a "Decline" in Trans Identity
One data scientist called the report “dead on arrival” over its inaccuracies.

Could have gone a lot worse for Elyce Lin-Gracey. Emergency 3F-2T showed good training. Music is way too big for her, although she almost caught up to it with that Ina Bauer. #GPFrance #GPFigure
A bump in the road for Jia Shin's quest for world domination - looked like her nerves got ahead of her in the opening popped Lutz. A mature performer with beautiful flow across the ice - Chopin is a great fit for her. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Wow, Lorine Schild brought her jumps today! Hate the costume, deeply hate this Led Zep cover, hate that I didn't get to see her last spin because of camera fail. But love to see a skater hitting her elements and correcting small issues on the fly. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Rion Sumiyoshi just redeemed the 3F, thank goodness. Not really my kind of program, needs more polish and delicacy than she's giving it. I love how flexible and finished her spin positions and jump check-outs are. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Ami Nakai just changed the tone of the event. 3A, but make it look easy!! Spins very centered and gained speed. Choreo a little cheesy, but what else are you going to do with La Strada? She smiles and sells it. #GPFrance #GPFigure
"I Will Always Love You" is so much song that I'm not sure anyone should skate to it. Livia Kaiser doesn't look ready to compete - jump timing off throughout, like she's not sure how much power she needs. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Since when is Lea Serna hitting 3Lz-3T combos with that kind of height and rotation? I like this bluesy Florence program for her. One more 3F fall, and the jump is officially cursed. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Young You looking rough in a season when she badly needs to shine. She's not feeling this SP choreography (yet? ever?) and her jump technique is looking very Tammy Gambill (derogatory). A skater I've always wanted better for. #GPFrance #GPFigure
Gotta love a Grand Prix of Figure Skating season that starts with a Black woman skating to Beyoncé!

I'm trying to schedule all my other responsibilities around #GPFrance #GPFigure. We'll see how that goes.
Day 17: The 1975 - Part of the Band (2022, UK, NK❌)

I like my *11 POINT BONUS* the way I like my coffee: full of cello riffs and sax solos, obliterating the standard pop structure for reminiscence and a rhyme scheme that runs through the whole lyric. #TheTwen2ie5
Day 17: Joe Jackson - It's Different for Girls
#20SongsByYear 1979

Jonathan Coulton made my choice for me at his show tonight when he took a request for his song with the extended bit about Joe Jackson.

Day 16: Amber Run - The Start (2022, UK, NK ❌)

Just a hummable, hopeful pop-rock tune that makes me smile whenever it rolls up on the playlist. #TheTwen2ie5
Day 16: Devo - Blockhead
#20SongsByYear 1979

The synth and guitar solos are as melodic as Devo gets, and the lyrics are rhythmically timed almost like early rap.
Day 15: The Raincoats - Adventures Close to Home
#20SongsByYear 1979

Another odd discordant tune about wandering around the city having a think. Or fighting dragons.
