Great news: DC government will cover any SNAP gap in November with local funds. Great news from the courts: the feds can't shut off SNAP.
The federal government's decision to unlawfully withhold SNAP funding will leave thousands in DC at risk of hunger, thousands of children & seniors without food on the table.

We compiled a list of Ward 1 food aid resources. Please share with neighbors in need.

As SNAP funds froze, mayors and governors have pledged to supplement the missing federal assistance, while federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration should use contingency funds to keep food aid running despite the government shutdown.

The Trump administration’s decision to gut the Office of Special Education—leaving just three staff—is cruel and unacceptable.

Over 7 million children depend on these services. Disability rights are human rights, not “Democrat programs.”

We must stand with families and fight back. 💪🏾 #SpecialEd

Congress just voted to strip DC of its rights AGAIN — with 31 Democrats siding with Trump.

This isn’t just about DC — it’s a dangerous precedent for democracy everywhere. Taxation without representation is alive and well in 2025. #FreeDC

It’s a strange, heavy feeling when your own city starts to feel less like home and more like a place under watch. Seeing military vehicles on familiar streets and soldiers standing on corners you’ve walked a hundred times can be unsettling. #FreeDC #democracy #ThisIsOurHome

What have we learned? What are we seeing now?

They’re invoking fear and chaos to keep us off balance

They make threats to get people to obey in advance

They weaponize and want us to fear subgroups to keep us divided and apart

We must stick together!!

As DC residents rise up to protect one another, one mayor is getting retweeted by the White House and the entire right wing media sphere for applauding the federal intervention. Makes my stomach literally turn.
