I mean wasn't this the company that wanted to tunnel the NEC under philly in a straight line to make a station at the airport and by pass the city? or was that another crank company that has tried messing with amtrak before.

Holy moly lol. ya that would just never fly now even if it was safe and the only way to go about it. the pushback would be huge from traffic flows, to worries, to noise, to unsightly views, and gas main fears.

Ya like we just cant do that anymore for better or worse. They almost collapsed city hall and the masonic building during the CCCT trenching somehow, I'm sure we could do a better shoring job now but it will deff take longer if you could do it at all.

I'm not even sure we could ever build the CCCT again if we wanted to with how hard it would be to do what they did during the construction. like looking at the pics of when it was made that could never been done now, we can barely shut down a block of market street for a bit for a road repave.

oh I see typing on my phone on the walk has been a massive mistake and there is no edit feature RIP.

I've mapped out most of the parking center city area even the garages and back alley parking areas just to fully show how much is there still missing some and some of it is just empty lots or bad land u se but 98% is parking. the garages hiding under everything adds alot.

Philly CCCC was a product of the large 1970s transit grants and loans the gov was just giving out at the time as well. Seems all bad thing lead back to the 80s.

amtrak is also just knocking down a ton of housing in Downingtown for its new station. I really dislike amtrak tbh. Not every station needs to be a flagship park and ride.

Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

If our TV networks had not been captured by the right wing, some very easy journalism would be to play this clip besides a very not on fire Portland and then tell viewers that the President of the United States is living in an alternate reality.

Parker bragging about how much money she wasted on your behalf. Wonder how much of that could of just been spent paying the workers better.

So much free land but no demand to live up in north philly because no jobs near by unless you drive out of the city or land a job in center city and take the bus or subway down. whole houses here are like 65k to buy. meanwhile center city is 1mill+ for a house and new units fill up instantly.
ratcher.bsky.social
yes because that means demand is lower then supply so lowering rents because clearly you cant ask for as much as you once did. this is how housing has worked sine the invention of the city.
ratcher.bsky.social
also it does include all housing that is currently built ready to rent but with no one living in them. so all multifamily and SFH.
ratcher.bsky.social
nyc and sanfran doesn't really have any vacant lots. they arent like philly or detroit. But philly does offer a good example of having a ton of empty vacant lots but with no demand for those lots because they arent near any jobs.

Politicians like Lozada don't care about easy access to pharmacies (even in the wake of Rite Aid closing) simply because they just drive to get there. I don't know what it will take for voters to see it

Me when I dont want my people to be able to have a easily reachable corner store or be able to get prescriptions filled because there is a product on the market they maybe they might sell.
