Weirdly anxious I don't know everything happening everywhere all the time. Leader of a gang of ducks. Make the message simple, consistent, & persistent. The platform is anti-corruption, good governance, & the expansion of participation in our democracy.

As a school board member I can say without hesitation that this is going to break the financial back of many districts while genuinely harming untold thousands of families across the country. Special education services are a bedrock of our social contract that have had no party lines until now.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I would assume that the Qatari Air Force facility in the US is entirely training focused.

That said, it's worth noting that Qatar has literally bribed the President and his family in multiple ways, to the tune of many millions of dollars.

i’m running for president in 2028, this is my platform:

- no more spam texts and calls
- smaller cars with weaker headlights
- imprison every person in ice and the trump administration on a remote island for a thousand years

I feel lots of things that felt like, were billed as, self-actualization read in retrospect as canaries in the coal mine for the fraying commitments we owe to each other as members of a society.

Relatedly, I recall a lot of "the joy of canceling plans" jokes and memes from the 2010s and now folks are talking about a loneliness epidemic, and, well...

People will scoff at virtue signaling and then wonder why today’s billionaires don’t build museums, libraries, hospitals, and universities like Gilded Age ones did.

Also the commodification and technological optimization of everyone's time and hobbies play no small part in this. Nothing is cheap and fun anymore.

3. According to the Fair Housing Justice Center, 2023 had the highest number of complaints ever reported in a single year — fully 3.5% higher than 2022 — meaning this is still a problem.

4. It would take years to rebuild if the firings go through.

1. This is illegal as it makes enforcement of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 effectively impossible.

2. Congress appropriates more than $300M each year for enforcement because housing discrimination has one of the ugliest legacies in American history after slavery and Native American genocide.

They are building a Propaganda State.

They are cooking the books on job creation.

Now they are rigging death numbers so no one knows how many people die because of their attacks on vaccines and science.

Anti-corruption, good governance, and the expansion of participation in our democracy necessarily requires unrelenting, unconditional justice toward those who have sought or succeeded in undermining or destroying key pillars of American constitutional democracy. No exceptions.

As Democrats contemplate a 2026 or 2028 run and wonder what message will most motivate voters, they need to understand that the minimum opening bid is vengeance.

To restore the rule of law, Democrats must enforce the constitution with brass knuckles like there’s nothing to lose. Because there isn’t.

They know they won't be in power forever. So, they're breaking as much as they can right now, in the hope that whoever follows them won't be able to put it all back together.

Is there even the most remote suggestion or implication from any source whatsoever that these jobs are being restored contingent on Democrats surrendering on the shutdown? Then why is it being described as leverage? It’s not. It’s just more White House lawbreaking that no one seems to care about.

Seriously, how is this “pressure?” is there a memo we all don’t know about where the White House says that all these people will get hired back if Democrats vote to end the shutdown? Because if that’s the case, several people should be in prison right now.

The White House budget office announced Friday that mass layoffs of federal workers have begun, a move by President Donald Trump's administration aimed at increasing pressure on Democratic lawmakers amid the ongoing government shutdown.

Translation: if the president has to give in to the Democrats’ demand for renewing health insurance subsidies, don’t worry. We can come back later with clawbacks (“rescissions”) that require a simple majority (“reconciliation bill”) to pass.

IOW, Johnson is announcing his intention to cheat.

These guys have gotten incredibly rich by fleecing the government with subpar tech that was designed for rentseeking rather than performance. A smart Dem agenda item would be to build internal tech capacity. The fact that it would punish these guys is just a silver lining.

15 years in the making, we confirmed that mitochondria - the powerhouse of the cell - have an unusual localization in patients who experience psychosis (including schizophrenia and bipolar disorders). You’ll never guess what kind of patient cells we used to make this discovery… 🧵
mitochondria from bipolar patients are closer to the nucleus in these images; control patients' are spread out further
