Yeah, but the USSR defined the 'Great Patriotic War' as only the part of WWII when Stalin was not Hitler's ally. So their invasions of Poland, Romania, the Baltic states and Finland 1939-41 aren't included at all.

The fact that they only declared on Japan on 8/8/1945 is similarly airbrushed.

Yeah, but we also know how 'circumstances' have a habit of making their previously repudiated policies reappear once they're in power.

"No top-down reorganisation of the NHS" being a classic from 2010, the opposite of which mysteriously made it into the coalition agreement the LibDems stuck to.
