Should you wear a mask if you've got symptomatic flu? YES. If you wear it at home *from the onset of your symptoms*, your family members are much less likely to catch flu from you (but you must avoid unmasked co-sleeping and eating around same table - have your meals alone). 1/

Labour’s shift away from “immigration is good but it needs to be managed” to “it is bad” is a gift to essentially everyone they compete with, because it means that they don’t have the right position to be able to attack *anyone*.
I'm sorry, but these attacks are just not going to convince Green-curious voters, because Labour is so visibly out of step with those voters' core values
This by @umakumaran.bsky.social is good - and a example of exactly how Labour should be taking on the Greens; on values, direct and on Labour territory. Taking them seriously.

The pressure to change Labour from being racist and xenophobic has to come from within. It’s the ‘sensible’ people in Labour that are in denial that are the heart of the failure to do this. Until they face up to what’s happening *and do something about it* we - and the Labour Party - are doomed.

All these attacks on the Greens would carry much more weight if Labour under Starmer weren’t a racist endeavour. Choosing between nuts and racists is hard, but I think I’ll lean towards the nuts.

And anyone moaning about the Greens’ economic incoherence should note this. Labour prefer racism to economics.

I went to a school in New Cross where the most popular football team was Millwall. There was no fucking Hitler in the playground.
As someone just months younger than Nigel Farage, I can say that not only is it untrue that ‘all’ schoolboys were obsessed with Hitler, but *none* of my cohort were. None. Nada. Zilch.
So we've gone from "he never said anything Nazi" to "well he might have said something Nazi but not in a hurtful way" to "well okay he probably did say something Nazi in a hurtful way, but didn't we all?"

When they want to increase public spending, every politician is asked how they will pay for it, but the same is not true (yet) for cutting immigration (because it is incorrectly understood as not having a cost.) I wonder if that will change as the impact on the economy becomes more visible.

I can’t help thinking that when, in future, people ask what UK political leaders said as it became undeniable that US saw European liberal democracy as its no1 strategic foe, Starmer and others will regret that the answer is “not much, shuffled awkwardly, looked at their feet”.

Special mention to Kemi Badenoch for being “still slightly traumatised” from wearing a mask during lockdown. I’ll give her the insight that post-viral illness - or fighting for breath in hospital - is a tad more traumatising than a piece of cloth on her face. Bloody snowflakes!
