To be clear, to talk of one section of society "reclaiming" land which was stolen by our settler-colonial state and whose sovereignty remains unceded, and when settler-colonialism is at the heart of the current racialised rupture, is just grotesque
It was appropriate to have a day of mourning, but this language is very problematic in the context of Israel's actions and the political insistence on merging all Jews with that country as a unitary identity. And Minns' tie colour choice wasn't an accident.

This ... nothing is ever done to deal with this by our governments. Lotta lotta 'lip service' but women still, and regularly, keep getting killed by men. While this keeps happening, shiny new hate laws matter zilch & so does a 'national day of mourning'. And, mourning, for some. *crickets for others

Australian politics used to be a relatively serious pursuit, with most participants taking their responsibilities seriously. That is no longer so. Mostly now they range from mindlessly corrupted to actively clownish in their behaviour. One thing we don't get anymore, as a result, is good laws.

Unfortunately Chalmers is a massive AI believer and facilitator, as are pretty much all of Labor - and the fossil fuel that goes with it. They just do whatever Big 4 consulting firms suggest they do. So I just don't know if I can be hopeful, with that record behind them (I voted ALP awhile back)
