Cycling, camping, cycling and camping, SAABs. Bit of everything really.

A bit left of Castro
First ride with my @galibiervelo.bsky.social Gino Pro wind jersey. It was 14°C with light rain and I was wearing my l/s base-layer and the Gino. It was amazing! The windproof bits kept my core toasty and the lighter material on the arms was just enough with my base layer, even in the rain. Cont…

Totally agree and really disappointed in Labour.

Vote Green
Labour hates the poor
Labour hates the planet
Labour hates disabled people and trans people
Labour hates cyclists

Labour LOVES the very rich and will do anything to protect them

This is the Range Rover driving prick who tried to run my off the road. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my cameras on and can’t remember the reg so no point reporting it.

20mph zones can only do so much

Pavement Parking: does anyone else have these white lines actually on the pavement (!) to indicate that cars should park there? This is in Oxfordshire, I'm interested in what other LAs have them. Extra points if you can give me a location on google maps so I can see it. :)

Thanks!

Cleveland Police has objected to the development of a shared-use path because it will make it easier for those with nefarious intentions to travel. Has any police force, anywhere, ever, made the same objections about a road?

Now watching Two Cathedrals; quite possibly the greatest piece of television ever made.

Made to fit “Brothers in Arms” because Aaron Sorkin loved the song
Just heard (again) a one of my favourite lines of West Wing.

I’ve checked and this is my longest ride since July and I only had the two days of 80km each in July for my camping trip. In August I did the grand total of 7km

I’m really out of shape, but doing London to Paris next year and a 320km ride to my sister’s so back on it. 80km next weekend and…
Really enjoyed that this morning. Longest ride in a very long time and legs were screaming by the time I got back, which is exactly what I wanted.

Lots of runners and cyclists out and I noticed that whilst the cyclists were all smiling, the runners didn’t look like they were enjoying themselves.

Want to hear something not funny?

My son came off his bike on the way school, bashed himself up a bit so trip to A&E. All fine, nothing broken.

Doctor tells him off for not wearing a helmet and says “if you have another bike crash when not wearing a helmet, I’ll report to social services”

Fancy protesting in favour of drink driving!
Someone just shared this with me: 1967, 3,000 publicans marching against introducing breath tests for drivers.

Barbara Castle MP got this introduced and speed limits and seatbelts as mInister for transport, and faced the standard opposition.

So with all the talk of taxes needing to rise and the possibility of road charging for EVs, what do we think are the chances of the Chancellor unfreezing Fuel duty?

So my desire to start working on my bikes myself has coincided with wanting to replace my chainrings on my brand new bike!

Does this sound like a good job to start with or am I crazy?! Park tool videos on YouTube and “Zinn on Road Bikes” are my guides

Sports/Audax cyclists: Training for London to Paris in May and then 320km in June.

Does my training need to be any more complicated than gently increasing the distance (10km per week) and making sure I rest properly? I’m not racing
