It is simply not ok that Armistice Day immediately follows Edmund Fitzgerald Day. (Now I have to go watch the film adaptation of Regeneration again.)

He gave me a snide look and said, "Is this really bothering you?" I said, "Kind of!" He then haughtily said "Fine, I'll turn it off!"

Very good advice. Related: look at your bookshelves. What presses are most represented? That should help determine your target press.
My best advice to aspiring authors of scholarly books is to read other scholarly books recently published by your target press. This may seem obvious and yet is not!
